Temporary to Permanent position

Afternoon shift: 3pm to 11:10pm

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The welder is responsible for welding pipe product (stainless steel or carbon steel) using various process, setting up fixtures and welding equipment and in process weld quality inspection.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Ensure all welds for carbon steel pipe are performed using the primary process Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) where possible. In some cases where unable to use primary process a secondary process will be used: Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)

·         Perform all stainless steel welds with Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process as per company procedure

·         Ensure all welds are clean, grinded and inspected; repair welds if necessary before moving product to next operation

·         Ensure all welds are performed 1G position with the aid of fixture and rotating equipment

·         Ensure that the welder stamps are applied to every carbon steel fitting (for traceability purpose), application of other stamp may be required

·         All welds to be performed according to drawings

·         Ensure that all inspection record and other record requirement are filled out neatly and correctly and returned to supervisor at the end of work day

·         Ensure work is carried out in accordance with established company procedures

·         Ensure material is tagged with an in-process tag as for ISO requirement

·         Ensure that smoke and fume removal system is working and used effectively

·         Make sure that welding machine calibration sticker is up date

·         Maintain a neat and clean workplace; comply with any FEM and LEAN manufacturing principles

·         Immediately report any unsafe equipment to supervisor, lock out equipment until repairs can be performed

·         Adhere to company policies and safety procedures

·         Use flame cutting equipment if instructed

  

SAFETY EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENT:

The use of appropriate safety equipment as described below is a condition of employment and not one of choice.  Safety equipment that must be worn while performing job responsibilities is as follows:

- Welding helmet (minimum shade 11)

- Hearing protection

- Safety Shoes (Met-Guard Type)

- Gloves, face shield (as required)

- Safety glasses

 

EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENT:

·         Good verbal and written communication skills

·         CWB or TSSA certified

·         Qualified in FCAW (Flux Core Arc welding) process, (Carbon steel)

·         Qualified in SMAW (Shield Metal Arc Welding) process (Carbon steel and Stainless Steel)

·         MIG aluminum welding an asset

·         Able to safely operate hand and power tools

·         Able to read drawing

·         2-5 years of experience in pipe fabrication environment
