Production Supervisor (food manufacturing)

Out client is a food manufacturing company, currently looking for production supervisors join the team. Supervises and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in manufacturing bakery products including, inspecting work-in-progress product and ongoing employee training. 

Working Location: Scarborough 
Rotating shifts:     night, afternoons and days
Salary Range:      $60-65K per year

 

Essential Functions

-- Determines ingredient and personnel requirements to meet specified production and coordinates work schedules to ensure efficient operations
-- Informs workers of production changes, and monitors control panels of mixers, freezers, ovens, and other equipment to determine whether control settings meet company specifications
-- Observes products in various stages of process to visually determine whether products meet requirements for size, color, texture, and smoothness
-- Interviews applicants for production and trains new employees in work methods and procedures
-- Tours work area to ascertain progress of scheduled work and observes workers to verify conformity with prescribed work procedures, safety regulations, productivity, and standards of work quality
-- Routinely monitors ingredient levels and communicates requirements to Purchaser for immediate re-ordering
-- Attends 15-minute, daily meetings to discuss any production concerns and facilitate information flow between departments
-- Participate (on a rotational basis with other Supervisors) monthly Joint Health & Safety Committee meeting

Job Specifications

-- Minimum 3 years Production Supervisor work experience in Food Manufacturing environment
Knowledge of health and safety standards, regulations, supervisory responsibilities and best practices
-- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) in English
-- Must be available for shift work on a rotating schedule
-- Level 1 & 2 Certification for JH&SC
-- May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
