Cost Estimator and Product Manager

JOB TITLE: Cost Estimator and Product Manager DEPARTMENT: Engineering REPORTS TO: Engineering Director GENERAL DUTIES: • Bill of Materials and Routings definitions and revision in SAP environment • Control of drafting of new/modified products • Draft product templates • Manage the RFQ process autonomously; improve the RFQ database • Design strip layouts of progressive blanking tooling for feasibility discussion analysis • Participate and lead the feasibility meetings • Calculate cost of the product and the tooling based on the routings and lay out discussed during feasibility analysis • Issue cost sheets • Issue AutoCAD sketches of product modifications or suggestion for process improvements • Analyse process capability studies, interpret results, drive quality in defining which study to perform. • Provide input on product design and tolerances • Implement possible cost savings • Update catalogue spreadsheet • Work closely with the Sales Team, Tooling Engineering Manager, Tooling Designers, Process Engineers, Program Manager, Quality Engineer • Customer communication regarding technical aspects and clarifications, under the Sales or Program Manager guidance REQUIREMENTS • Mechanical Engineer Diploma or Degree is preferred • 3-5 years experience as an engineer or technologist in the field of mechanical engineering in stamping/blanking environment • Previous supervisory experience required • Die Design experience in progressive stamping tools (knowledge of Fine Blanking will be an asset) • Cost estimation knowledge is an asset but not a must (could be trained on the job) • Knowledge of GD&T • Strong skill with AutoCAD 2D (and familiar with 3D in INVENTOR) • Strong skill with Microsoft office in particular Excel and Access • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Salary: 50-60K
