Please send your resume to “resume2013@ gc-employment.com” with the subject title "Millwright" For further information call Ivy at 416-850-5060 ext.223 Summary: Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems, repairs and services all plant equipment, building and facilities, including installation of equipment and preventive maintenance. Uses basic hand and specialty tools for repair equipment in accordance with established safety procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties performed by employees in this position will include, but not be limited to the following: • Actively engaged in the upkeep and improvement of plant equipment and facilities, in keeping buildings in a clean and orderly condition, and in maintaining and repairing utility systems and physical structures of buildings. • Performs daily maintenance, repair, servicing and installation needs and requirements at the plant and responds to such needs. • Trouble-shoots any maintenance, repair or service problems as necessary, and initiates corrective action to resolve problems. • Communicates any problems to Maintenance Supervisor or other members of Management. • Operates any equipment necessary to perform required duties and has knowledge of all production equipment. • Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication and power circuits. • Takes a physical inventory of all maintenance tools, supplies, repair parts, etc. as required, orders tools, parts and supplies accordingly. • Coordinates with plant supervisory staff to insure responsiveness to maintenance, repair and/or servicing requests and requirements. • Able to rebuild, install or remove gear boxes • Able to perform shaft alignments, installation or removal • Read blueprints and wiring diagrams for the installation and repair of equipment and the facility. • Repair parts that require machine work and welding. Uses gas welding equipment. • Develops simple types of experimental and operating equipment. • Major electrical repairs, installations of equipment, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances. • Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp or growler. • Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems. • Installs light fixtures and replaces bulbs and ballast. • Cleans, lubricates and adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary. • Performs carpenter, plumbing and painter related work • Inspects completed repairs. • Keeps work area(s) in a clean and orderly fashion • Applies lock-out/tag-out and Hot Work procedures as needed. • Ensures all work complies with all local and provincial building and safety codes • Fills in for the Maintenance Supervisor in his absence. • Performs other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervision. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Hold millwright’s license with Inter-provincial designation. High school education; and two plus years related experience/training with pneumatics, hydraulic, PLCs and electrical. Be able to use and interpret results from precision measurement tools and apparatus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide multi-digit numbers including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of Canadian currency and weight measurement, volume and distance. MECHANICAL SKILLS: High degree to knowledge of equipment and aptitude for understanding mechanical and electrical systems through formal training and/or education. Be able to perform repairs (including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical). Trained in lock out/ tag out procedures COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively gets along with co-workers and management, and deal effectively and professionally under pressure. REASONING ABILITIY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Innovative problems solving skills required dealing with a variety of production issues and machine malfunctions. Must be able to make decisions based on established guidelines regarding running or shutting down on defective work and operational problems/difficulties of all kinds. Plans repair procedures for most efficient accomplishment of job at hand. Uses a high degree of ingenuity in solving all types of maintenance problems. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently works around moving vehicles and is occasionally exposed to fumes or vapors or hazardous products such as degreasers and silicone sprays.
