Analytical Chemist - Rheology (Cosmetics Manufacturing)

We are seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist - Rheology to support laboratory testing within a fast-paced cosmetics manufacturing environment. This role focuses on performing rheological and physical characterization testing on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to ensure quality, consistency, and performance.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience operating rheometers and interpreting viscosity and flow behaviour data in cosmetic, personal care, pharmaceutical, or CPG environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rheological testing on raw materials, bulk batches, and finished cosmetic products
  • Operate and maintain rheometers (e.g., Anton Paar, TA Instruments)
  • Conduct viscosity, shear rate, flow curve, and texture analysis testing
  • Prepare samples in accordance with established SOPs
  • Analyze and interpret rheology data to support formulation and manufacturing teams
  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) or performance-related issues
  • Document results accurately and prepare technical reports as required
  • Ensure calibration, maintenance, and proper operation of laboratory equipment
  • Follow GMP, GLP, and internal quality procedures
  • Support stability testing and product performance evaluation


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or related field
  • Minimum 2+ years of laboratory experience in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceutical, or CPG industries
  • Hands-on experience performing rheological testing and operating rheometers
  • Strong understanding of viscosity, shear behavior, and material flow properties
  • Experience working in a GMP or regulated laboratory environment
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing-support setting
  • Preferred Qualifications 
    • Experience supporting formulation or R&D teams
    • Familiarity with LIMS or laboratory data systems
    • Experience with statistical data analysis and trending

This is a 12-month contract position with competitive compensation based on experience.
