Licensed Tool & Die Maker in Scarborough

Our client, a leading automotive manufacturing company is looking for Licensed Tool & Die Maker to join the team. 

Location: Scarborough (Markham Rd & Finch Ave E) 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Builds new dies and tooling from drawings and specifications by laying out, setting up, machining, fitting, and finishing metal stock and castings.
  • Repairs dies and tools used in production as needed.
  • Testing repaired dies for proper operation, operating press as required and running test parts.
  • Operates a variety of machine tools to cut, mill or grind.
  • Verifies conformance of completed dies to specifications by checking dimensions clearances, alignments and finish, consistently working to close tolerances.
  • Performs Preventive and Predictive maintenance on tool room equipment
  • Responsible to ensure that all safety and quality start up procedures are followed.
  • Participates in all areas of lean manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Valid Ontario Tool & Die license.
  • Minimum of 2 -3 years’ experience as a tool & Die maker in an automotive environment.
  • Good working knowledge of crane operation.
  • Good knowledge of various materials (tool steel, etc.) heat treating and basic welding.
  • Proficient use and operation of all Tool room equipment including Grinders.
  • Mathematical and Mechanical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated organization skills, analytical skills, and problem-solving.
  • Able to work well independently and in a team setting.
