Director of Supply Chain Planning

Our client is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of quality skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products. Currently, we are seeking Director, Supply Chain to join the team: 

  • Working location: Toronto

  • Compensation plan: $150k+, plus competitive benefit package
     

POSITION SUMMARY

Manage the supply and allocation of finished goods into the North American Canadian Affiliate, to achieve established customer service levels, and regional inventory targets.

 

Key Roles/Responsibilities:

Service Delivery

  • Monitor service level, out of stocks, and low stock status for the North American Canadian Affiliate. Expedite supply, both from a production and transportation standpoint, to support service level targets. Collaborate with regional BSM teams regarding supply availability, and make deployment decisions optimizing Canadian service while balancing US service requirements.
  • Minimize avoidable lost dollars through review and adherence to the Supercede/TVER process, as well as regular review of upcoming Supercedes, working closely with Customer Service and the Distribution Centre on Order/Variant synchronization.

Planning, Execution, Inventory Management & Reporting

  • Ensure the correct supply signal to the plants, through accurate master file data, and close collaboration with Demand Planning. Prepare for and participate in weekly Supply Demand reviews with Demand Planning.
  • Collaborate closely with the Affiliate Sales team on the order flow, specifically related to timing, advanced notice, and test orders, to ensure adequate timing to support orders exceeding forecast.  Review and update Canada Out-of-Stock report.
  • Lead the process to disposition excess and obsolete finished goods in the Canadian Distribution Centre through reprogramming, redeployment, Corporate Sales, Warehouse Sales, and destruction in collaboration with BSM and GBSC.

Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) & Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Buildout / Execution

  • Actively participate in the development, start-up, and continuous enhancement of the Canadian SIOP process.  Coordinate the development and maintenance of the tools and standard work used to manage the SIOP demand, supply and collaboration.
  • Provide education and training to SIOP participants at all levels within the organization, and ongoing coaching to colleagues as required.
  • Communicate Supply Status, Service Level Projections, and future risks to Customer Service, Sales, and Marketing. Represent Supply for all brands at the Canada SIOP meetings. Develops and maintains the key SIOP business metrics and works with all sites in order to drive improvement of these metrics    

Customer Relationship Management

  • Partner with key stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements such as safety stock optimization and planning parameter enhancements for Canadian variant SKU's, as well as develop seasonal safety stock plans for GWP "build" orders.
     

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: University Degree, preferably in Engineering, Business or Commerce related discipline, MBA preferred 
  • Experience: 8-10 years of related experience
  • Travel: Interfacility travel required within the Canadian sites (all).  Occasional travel to the New York City offices and/or Melville facilities, as well as the PADC (estimated as 3-4 times per year)
  • Fundamental knowledge of Supply Chain, as well as SIOP processes and its relationship with the commercial end of the business.
  • Knowledge of the SAP system, LEAN techniques, specifically Supply Network Planning, Transportation Load Building, Liability Management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal& relationship building skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
