Production Supervisor

Our client, a leading food manufacturer is hiring Production Supervisor to join the team as soon as possbile. Supervises and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in manufacturing bakery products including, inspecting work-in-progress product and ongoing employee training. 

• Working location: Scarborough
• Direct Hire Perm Role
• 8 hours per day:  steady nights or rotating shifts(night, afternoons and days)

Essential Functions

• Determines ingredient and personnel requirements to meet specified production and coordinates work schedules to ensure efficient operations
• Informs workers of production changes, and monitors control panels of mixers, freezers, ovens, and other equipment to determine whether control settings meet company specifications
• Observes products in various stages of process to visually determine whether products meet requirements for size, color, texture, and smoothness
• Interviews applicants for production and trains new employees in work methods and procedures
• Manage work area to ascertain progress of scheduled work and observes workers to verify conformity with prescribed work procedures, safety regulations, productivity, and standards of work quality
• Routinely monitors ingredient levels and communicates requirements to Purchaser for immediate re-ordering
• Participate (on a rotational basis with other Supervisors) monthly Joint Health & Safety Committee meeting
• All other duties as required

Job Specifications

• Minimum 3 years work experience in manufacturing, preferably in food production
• Knowledge of health and safety standards, regulations, supervisory responsibilities and best practices
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) in English
• Must be available for shift work on a rotating schedule
• Computer competent (MS Excel and Word)
• Level 1 & 2 Certification for JH&SC
