Our client, a leading lighting company, is looking for a purcahsing manager to join their downtown head office. The candidate should have strong manufactruring experience and prefer somone from lighting industry.

Key Responsibilities:
- Effective purchasing/negotiation of products, contributing to the business and financial success of company. This includes sourcing and negotiating supply contracts, recommending sell prices within guidelines, developing product forecasts.
- To support the reduction of product input costs by effective sourcing, testing and implementation of competitive sources of supply for existing products and programs.
- To support Marketing program requirements by pro-actively supporting new product development, managing increased product requirements during promotional periods, and accessing suppliers’ promotional funds.
- To establish effective working relationships with suppliers; keep current on latest developments in products and sources of supply; and establish a network of contacts in the industry.
- To ensure complete and accurate documentation of all product specifications, vendor contracts and commission programs and ensuring that vendor volume rebates are collected in a timely manner with supporting documentation.
- To contribute to the overall organization by maintaining effective working relationships at all levels of the organization, providing Purchasing support to other departments as required and through active participation in multi-departmental task teams.
- To maintain purchasing practices and policies that ensure fair and ethical relationships with vendors.
- Responsible for vendors and supplier performance analysis in areas of quality, delivery and pick up.
- Proven track record of cost reduction through procurement strategies
- Willingness to travel.
Qualificiations:
- Five to ten years purchasing experience in purchasing, prefer in manufacturing environment.
- Ability to multi-task and manage priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in French and in English, with ability to effectively negotiate.
- Creative, innovative and resourceful with the ability to recognize new opportunities.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong computer proficiency particularly in using spreadsheets for business analysis.
- An overwhelming sense for “Exceptional Customer Service”.
- Proficient in ERP system.
