Network Engineer

Our client, a leading manufacturer of automotive parts, is looking for a Network Engineer to join their team. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the Network Engineer will act as a lead responsible for Global Networking Engineering including architecture, design, implementation, support, monitoring and configuration of LAN and WAN and related systems.

 

Full-time, perm role

Location: North York

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as a leader/owner in a team responsible for the Global Networking Engineering architecture, design, implementation, support, monitoring and configurations of Local Area Network (Lan); Wide Area Network (WAN) and internet, VPN services.
  • Lead and/or participate in new network project implementations, bring in cutting-edge network technologies to build a professional and secure enterprise network (Cisco DNA, SD-WAN, MPLS, DMVPN, AMP, NGFW, Could Security, Wifi6, Mobility Express, etc.); 
  • Lead and/or participate in million-dollar networking devices management, maintenance, and upgrade for company-wide plants, save IT overall costs with innovative technologies and products, improve network quality and end user experience;
  • Produce and maintain consistent technical documentation and processes to ensure proper functioning and maintenance of all network devices and associated infrastructure (network diagrams, implementation plans, device warranty record, regular maintenance, operational guidelines, etc.);
  • Monitor network performance and integrity, bring forward operational improvements, capacity and scalability enhancements;
  • Collaborates with management to assess near and long-term network capacity needs and direction;
  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness (configuration backup, system patch, software upgrade);
  • Configure and install Cisco Routers, Switches, Wireless controllers, ASA firewall, Wireless Access Points, Security gateway, and other network devices;
  • Act as subject matter expert for network and infrastructure.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Degree / Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Networking or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in network engineering and operations with a wide range of Cisco routers & switches; network troubleshooting skills at engineering level including wired and wireless connections
  • 5+ years in design/engineering of large-scale network with 20+ sites; defining and implementing Enterprise-wide network standards
  • 3+ years in deploying and managing complex wireless networking; monitoring network performance and security activities
  • Cisco CCIE level in Switching & Routing (i.e. EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, IPSEC, HSRP)
  • Cisco CCNP or CCIE level in Wireless (i.e. 802.11 b/g/n/ac, WLC, AP, Mobility Express)
  • Cisco CCNP or CCIE level in Security (i.e. VPN, IPS/IDS, Firewall, ISE)
  • Proven abilities to translate needs / requirements to architectural compliant network solutions
  • Strong understanding of Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Knowledge Management
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of management, staff, and customers
  • Produce technical documentation in a clear and concise manner (Microsoft Word, Visio)
  • Read, analyze, and interpret detailed technical manuals, diagrams and engineering documents
  • Experience in budgeting, capacity planning, project coordination and implementation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with third-party service providers/vendors
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hierarchal network design, configuration, administration and architecture
