Network Architect

Our client, a leading manufacturer of automotive parts, is looking for a Network Architect to join their team. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the Network Architect will lead the development and maintenance of patterns and standards for solutions surrounding Networking and Infrastructure.

 

Full-time, perm role

Location: North York

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Available to support production systems in a 24x7 operating environment.
  • Monitors and reviews network performance issues regarding local and wide area networks.
  • Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, switches. Ensure all network equipment are secure and working properly
  • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Investigating and remediating faults in the network.
  • Planning, implementing and testing scheduled upgrades.
  • Performs troubleshooting, backup, archiving, and disaster recovery.
  • Perform backups and regular database maintenance to ensure maximum performance.
  • Co-ordinate with vendors to provide services and support for network services and specialized programming.
  • Evaluate emerging Network and Security technologies and identify potential use cases within the organization.
  • Responsible for administering network infrastructure, network application, data servers and perform maintenance, evaluation, installation and training tasks to ensure users can maximize their productivity.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary education in Information Technology or the equivalent in education and work experience
  • Cisco Certification CCIE
  • Minimum 8 years’ related experience in a small to mid-size software company
  • Must have proven track record of experience and thorough understanding of network design, planning and implementation, security principles and general network management best practices
  • Hands on experience in installing, configuring and supporting Cisco network equipment including routers, switches, firewall, IDS/IPS, wireless controller and access points.
  • Experience with Cisco Security products
  • Solid understand and experience with L2 protocols, L3 protocols and services.
  • Experience with Network monitoring and event management tools and best practices using syslog, SNMP polling and trap alerts (e.g Solarwinds, Nagios, Cisco DNA, etc.)
  • Ability to create and maintain sustainable network documentation and topology; python scripting experience
  • Experience using/managing Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012, Active Directory 
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Office365 administration and PowerShell
  • Experience managing VMware ESX virtual environment, vSphere Operation Centre
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all server hardware, storage equipment and associated equipment including SCSI and RAID.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making ability
