Production Supervisor (Night Shift)

Our client. a leading automotive manufacturing client, is looking for a night shift production supervisor to join their growing team.

 

Location: Woodstock, ON

Shift time: 11pm to 7am

Salary: up to $80K/year (depends on experience)

 

Overall Responsibility: Responsible for the supervision, coordination and effective scheduling of workers to meet production targets and quality standards. Responsibilities will include the training of staff in production methods, safety, policies and procedures, as well as the identification and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues. In the course of their duties, the Plant Supervisor will prepare a range of reports, and hold responsibilities for the effective budgeting for their area.

Accountabilites:

Production:

  • Assist in the implementation of any changes in current production processes or any new projects pertaining to production.
  • Ensuring minimal downtime (eg.: equipment malfunction) and interacting with maintenance to document and report downtime.
  • Apply knowledge of assembly process, tools, equipment, products, and production methods and plan and execute the production requirement.
  • Constantly apply methods to maximize the effectiveness of the production team (i.e.: team building, positive reinforcement, consistent communication, team involvement, feedback, etc.)
  • Supply fair, honest and consistent feedback to production employees for the purpose of positive reinforcement, and two way communication – document for future performance appraisal.
  • Ensure daily process audits are completed (ex. Equipment readiness, first off, fork lifts, etc).
  • Conduct all work duties and maintain documentation according to ISO 14001/TS16949 standards.
  • Ensure that our quality exceeds customer expectations. Apply methods and processes to reach quality defect goals.
  • Support and lead Continuous Improvement activities through reducing inefficiencies and identifying cost savings both within this position and throughout the organization.
  • Timely completion of training/documentation for all direct reports.
  • Training effectiveness and assessment of personnel.
  • Actively participate in business related initiatives and support the team spirit.
  • Track and report out on employee daily attendance. Ensure system accuracy for timely payroll logging.
  • Daily routine maintenance and safety of the plant (i.e: housekeeping; ensure workstations are neat, clean and safe to work, shutdown/lock-out procedures are followed).
  • Responsible for the safety and well being of all personnel on shift and ensuring that all work is performed in a safe manner in accordance with all Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Maintaining a firm and fair consistent process of discipline, communicating to the reporting Manager and Human Resources any recommended discipline, and ensuring documentation of all discipline is followed through as per policy.
  • Compile weekly reports in a business centre format and report out on performance measurables.
  • Conduct daily production meetings and update staff on production demands, quality statistics and safety concerns.

Others:

  • Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the Canadian HSE Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.
  • Ensure QMS conforms to the requirements identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.
