Salary: $50,000 to $60,000

 

Summary Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, the Staff Accountant is responsible for accounting and compliance matters,
including journal entries and account reconciliations, recycling accounting, marketing development funds accounting
and reconciliation of brokers’ accounts. Responsibilities will be primarily for the Canada portion of the business unit,
but could also include matters related to the overall business unit. This position works closely with cross functional
departments in accounting, operations, sales, procurement and FP&A as well as external contacts such as auditors
and recycling agencies.

Key Accountabilities:

The following are essential duties and responsibilities for this position:

 Preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
 Responsible for Canadian marketing, sales promotional accruals and accounting
 Responsible for the accounting and compliance of Canada bottle deposits, including the preparation of
declarations for filing online, reconciliation of bottle deposit liability and any monthly journal entries associated
with these reconciliations
 Preparation of monthly marketing development funds analysis and review of schedule with VP Sales and
Canadian Accounting Manager
 Preparation of audit schedules for annual audit and quarterly reviews by external auditors as required
 Responsible for ensuring month-end accruals of unpaid goods and services are captured.
 Review monthly broker and royalty cheque requests/backup for payment
 Identify and implement business process improvement opportunities
 Other duties as per business requirements

Skills/Qualifications:
 Experience with SAP 6.0 preferred
 Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to deal with internal and external customers
 Solid accounting and analytical skills
 Proven ability to multitask, and work in an organized, detailed manner under time constraints
 Adaptable to change and flexible to accommodate month end deadlines
 Proficient in Word and intermediate level Excel with the ability to use V-lookups and pivot tables
 Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions
 Ability to analyze and solve problems, results oriented

Education and Experience:
 Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
 Two (2) years relevant work experience

Working Conditions:
 Physical – Continuously sitting for prolonged periods using a computer, as the job is administrative in nature.
 Visual/Sensory – This position requires attention to detail, requiring attention with one or two senses at a time.
 Work environment – Work and environment fasted paced, requiring ability to remain focused under pressure.
Attention must be concentrated in the face of numerous changing stimuli.
 Mental Stress – There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, project management, accuracy or similar
demands. Continuous requirement of decisive action.
