Regulatory and Technical Affairs Specialist

Our client leading food industry is looking for Regulatory and Technical Affairs Specialist to join the team.

Location: North York (HWY 401 & HWY 400)

Permanent hire with competitive salary $ 55,000 and $ 58,000 per year.

 

The position is responsible for ensuring ingredient declaration, nutrition panel, allergen

statements and other regulatory elements are accurate and comply with government regulations.

Manages issues pertaining to labelling, certification and new product launching.

 

Responsibilities include (but not limited to)

·         Assure ingredients, formulas, labeling and packaging are in full compliance with laws and regulations in countries where product is sold. Ensure claims are in accordance within all applicable regulations.

·         Keep up-to-date with current and upcoming regulatory changes within Health Canada, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, other regulatory agencies as required

·         Review and approve packaging/label artwork for nutritional and regulatory compliance

·         Generate ingredient & nutrition labels, product specification sheets for new and existing finished products using Genesis software

·         Manage, maintain and update customer portal system, respond to customer inquiries, complete customer documents/forms

·         Manage and maintain supplier documents, product specification for new and existing products

·         Update and maintain allergen database for ingredients and finished product

·         Manage and maintain certification documentation for Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified,

·         Peanut Free, Gluten Free, Allergen, RSPO for new and existing products

·          Resolve regulatory issues raised internally, externally, or by government agencies and initiate corrective action as required

·         Assist to approve all new suppliers and new ingredients and ensure all required suppliers’ documentation, certifications and audit reports are up-to-date

·          Provide assistance to QA Management to ensure requirements for 3rd party and/or customer audits are met and assist in QA projects

Skills & Qualifications

·         Post-secondary degree related to Food Science or Nutrition.

·         3-5 years’ food regulatory working experience in a food manufacturing plant (Bakery an asset)

·         Bilingual, fluent in English and French (written & verbal) a must

·         Strong working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. government regulations on ingredient, claims and nutritional labelling

·         Strong working knowledge of Genesis nutrition software a must

·         Strong working knowledge of food safety standards and identity preserved programs (Organic, Non GMO Project Verified, FSMA, SFCA)

·          Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), electronic document management systems, and various product databases.

·          Strong organizational and planning skills; detail-oriented; multi-task and prioritize tasks
