Machinist

Our client is an innovative and market leading manufacturer of disposable food packaging serving a multitude of markets. Currently we are looking for a Machinist to join their Richmond Hill location.

  • Reports to Shop Supervisor

The General Machinist is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of manual machining equipment in accordance with the process plan to maximize through-put, in a timely manner and to the Engineering specifications.

  • Plan and organize all manual machining activities, in accordance with the process plans, and precision required.
  • Select and order appropriate tooling for optimum cutting conditions using proper and efficient feeds and speeds for material conditions.
  • Interpret Engineering drawings designs, application and tolerance.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on manual equipment according to the PM schedule.
  • Design and manufacture jigs and fixtures as required.
  • Plan and organize all CNC machining activities, 2D & 3D in accordance with CAD/CAM process plans.
  • Coordinate schedule/priorities with CAD/CAM programmer and the Shop Supervisor
  • Track and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of machining operations.
  • Verify “first-off” and that all machined components meet tolerances and quality requirements prior to moving components on to the next stage.
  • Manual machining included but not limited to; Mills, Radial Drill, Lathe, & EDM
  • CNC machining as required.
  • Maintains all working areas in accordance with company housekeeping (5S) standards

Requirements:

  • Able to read and interpret Engineering models and drawings, dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience and knowledge of capabilities and processes of all machining good practice.
  • Measuring metrology (use and calibration of measuring instruments)
  • At least 3 years Experience and knowledge of Set-up and operation of manual lathes, mills, grinders.
  • Some experience in CNC Machining is required.
