Manufacturing Engineer

Our client is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of quality skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products. Current we are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join company. 

Working in Markkam or Scarborough location

Managing activities related to all new product launches, CI and focus factory transfers for the plant. This also encompasses the validation activities for OTC products from PQ/PPQ standpoint.

As technical lead, Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible all activities such as mass scale up of new formula,  into the fill and assembly, coordinating, conducting line trials and developing filling and packaging parameters for a new product based on the plant’s equipment while ensuring the best quality, value and customer service to internal and external customers.

 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Commercialization of new products for the various product and complexity categories.

· Participate and initiate PFMEA for a new product at the onset of the project with upstream stake holders, and facilitate plant specific RA’s prior to line trial to define scope and deliverables and success criteria of the line trials. Notify appropriate groups of relevant impacts, risks and assumptions being taken into consideration.

· Coordinates, executes, reporting and approvals for all line trials

- Interface with R&D, Pkg, PD, TSO and Plant commercialization team (QA/M&R, Ops, NPP) for successful fill and line trials.
- Identifies the need for change parts
- Manage and lead the development of trays used for automation.
- Facilitate and manage the design and development of metal/soft molds as required.*
- Trouble shoot and conduct root cause analysis any failures or issues
- Create a DOE in conducting a line trial.
- Ensure a sample plan for the line trial and post line trial is developed. 

· Develops and validate tertiary packaging for all new productions which includes:

- Determines and review shipper size and quantities
- Works with local vendors to design and develop new shippers when appropriate.
- Completes and coordinates all transit testing activities related to packout.

·  Drives/Leads and supports  Continuous improvement activities

- Actively participate on Packaging meetings with focus on reducing Cost of Goods (COG).
- Evaluates package functionality, type of product, special requirements
- Pursues material changes with the packaging group to reduce COG (Value Analysis).
- Assists and participates on all the VA initiatives.

·  Understands principles of operation of the plant’s packaging equipment, attends first production and evaluates results against line trial results.

·  Ensures that all new packages and products are compatible with the plant’s equipment/processes.

·   Manage all Bill of Material (BOM) activity for each sku from a plant perspective i

·  Develops filling and assembly specifications in conjunction with Industrial, Quality  Engineering groups to ensure best value is achieved.

·  Leads PMEA meetings

   

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  B.S. in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, other degrees are acceptable when accompanied with relevant manufacturing experience.

Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of related work experience in Manufacturing, and/or Industrial Engineering or Packaging environment, including components supplier manufacturing knowledge and plant experience.

Competencies: excellent oral, written and presentation skills, strong project management, excellent time management skills, computer skills required in office suite with emphasis on Excel and Access and other relevant soft and hardware, IOPP Certification would be an asset. Lean Six Sigma background would be preferred.
