Jr. System Administrator (Toronto) Please send your resume to us with the subject " Jr. System Administrator (Toronto)" at itjobs@gc-employment.com Job Responsibilities: - Responsible for Monitor alerts generated by monitoring tools and implement guided actions - Responsible for escalate major incidents to the System/DB/Telecom Administrators - Responsible for follow up on incidents and ensure that solutions are implemented to prevent recurrence of those incidents - Responsible for preparing monthly reports on alerts and provide analysis indicating areas of improvement - Responsible to Execute routine procedures (e.g. backups requested by clients, firmware upgrades, patching) as per guidelines provided by the System/DB/Telecom Administrators - Responsible to Add/Modify documentation/wiki as required - Responsible for Enforcement of data security, premises integrity and access procedures as per company security policy Requirements: - Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science and/or related business experience - Knowledge of Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of servers - Ability to multitask and meet specific goals set by supervisors and management - Effective Analysis and Documentation Skills. - Familiarity with IT Infrastructure concepts (servers, firewalls, load balancers, switches, data centers, hypervisors, etc. - Working knowledge of Windows Desktop/Server OSs (Windows XP/7, Windows Server 2003/2008) and Linux (RHEL). Must be comfortable with commands for routine tasks (resource monitoring, checking statuses of services, etc.) on Windows and Linux. - Good Communication Skills - Technical knowledge of windows/Linux servers, OS. - Familiarity with the virtualization. Working knowledge of a Virtualization product (e.g. VMware) would be nice to have. - Good understanding of the various environments: Development, QA, Production, DRP - ‘Hands on’ approach and a willingness to learn Salary Negotiable
