Summary: Our client is an automotive parts manufacturing company. As a Senior Supplier Development Engineer, you need to assure the profitability and efficiency of the company is maximized through assisting Purchasing department, Quality department and APQP department with NEW Supplier evaluation, selection and development activities. Responsibilities: • The promotion and enforcement of the quality standards as defined in Supplier Development Manual within the supply base placing emphasis upon development and continuous improvement. • Exercise the supplier survey criteria upon the supply base in a fair consistent manner, rating and reporting as such to maintain a uniform structure. • Conduct supplier selection evaluations of potential suppliers, and prepare reports for review with APQP, Purchasing and Senior Management as necessary. • Place emphasis on the use of statistical techniques within the supply base, resulting in the receipt of data accompanying shipments and elimination of receiving inspection. • Assist with Supplier quality process audits and reporting. • Assist with Suppliers performance reporting (quality) when necessary. • Work with APQP and purchasing in developing new suppliers by auditing their compliance to ISO/TS 16949 and assisting in improving their quality standards. • Work with Process Engineering in developing a master PFMEA for family of purchased products. • Participates with APQP team in determination of component key and high impact product characteristics. • Review and approve supplier’s PPAP for new program launch and engineering changes ensuring compliance to part drawing and engineering specifications and warranty requirements. • Work in compliance with ISO 14001 / TS16949 standards. • Will maintain due diligence in regard to environmental matters, minimize any potentially harmful accidents and work in compliance with ISO 14001. Will follow the environmental guidelines for aspects as outlined in job training requirements. • Will work in compliance with all legislative requirements of the OHSA and will be accountable for specific Health & Safety responsibilities, as outlined under “Safety & Environmental Responsibilities – Office & Production Employees. • Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Quality Manager and/or General Manager. Requirements Specification: • Must have operated in a senior SQE position for some time (3yrs + preferable) • 6 sigma experience (not necessarily certified) is required • Lean manufacturing experience (not certified) is required. • Strong interpersonal skills is a must. • Previous experience in a 'mentoring' role is preferred. • Preferably with Quality, Supplier Development and Process Engineering experience. • Suitable individual should have gained knowledge in a cross-section of automotive process, strong in SPC and problem solving techniques. • Possess ASQ certification (CQE or CQT) and/or 5 years (minimum) related experience with Global Programs and/or OEM/Tier 1 and/or degree in a related discipline. • Must be able to travel. • Assist in warranty avoidance activity and lead returned part review activity. • Should be self motivated, incisive, possess leadership qualities, strong negotiation skills, be clear and concise • Communicator with strong presentation skills, lateral thinker, good organizational skills and a strategic mindset
