National Sales Manager

Our client is a leading plastic, paper, and aluminum food packaging products manufacturer.

Permanent, base + commission 

Summary/Objective

Reporting to the Commercial Sales Manager, we are seeking a National Account Manager with Food Service/Distribution packaging experience to join our growing team of Sales professionals. In this position, the NAM is responsible for the total management of National Accounts across Canada for the food service/packaging division. This position will also participate in appropriate industry organizations and observe trends and operator needs that will drive product solutions for targeted channels.

Theposition also requires prior experience in management of food service and channel specific broker organizations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for assigned sales volume and profit quota.
  • Responsible for segment specific business and assigned customers.
  • Required to manage marketing and trade budget for broker territories.
  • Required to manage to an assigned travel, trade, promotion and sample budget.
  • Ability to successfully operate within a cross-functional team environment and interface with outside company marketing, operations and purchasing groups to grow the business effectively.
  • Capable of building multi level relationships within identified customers.
  • Position is responsible to deliver profitable sales growth in alignment with food service strategies and core focus.
  • 60% Travel

Key Responsibilties:

  • Maintain assigned National Accounts and generate new sales within those Accounts
  • Develop new National and/or Regional Accounts and generate sales within those Accounts.
  • Perform customer needs analysis, develop solutions, discuss product offerings, create proposals, and negotiate with customers.
  • Sell company authorized products in required volumes to meet or exceed sales goals
  • Participate in product and sales related training.
  • Keep current on product knowledge and selling process.
  • Produce accurate and timely forecasts as required by management.
  • Develop and nurture strong customer contacts and positive, proactive relationships with managers and representatives ensuring open streams of communication.

Travel

  • This position requires up to 50% travel. Frequently travel is outside the local area and overnight.
  • Preferred Education and Experience
    1. University or College degree
    2. Previous B2B National or Key management experience within the Food Packaging industry.
    3. Experienced in sales data collection and analysis.
