Senior Tax Manager

Our client, a global manufacturer of consumer products with 5,000+ employees worldwide, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Manager.  The ideal candidate is an independent, results-oriented individual with excellent data analytical, technology, communication, and problem solving skills. 

This role will be primarily responsible for the indirect tax requirements of the global operations for the group as well as support other global tax-related activities. 

Working in Concord, ON

Core Duties:

-- Assist with the preparation and review of all compliance reporting for U.S. and Canadian tax purposes including communicating with various personnel from several divisions.

-- Gathering of information and preparation of responses for review to queries from various tax authorities in respect of income and sales tax audits and notices, communicate directly with auditors.

-- Be responsible for all aspects of the company’s quarterly and annual tax accounting requirements, including reporting and disclosures, communicating with company auditors.

-- Research and documentation of technical issues related to income and indirect taxes that arise on an on-going basis.

-- Assist with M&A activities, including due diligence, integration plans, and structuring work with the goal of adding value to the organization.

-- Seek, develop, and implement tax-planning initiatives, including working with company external advisors.

--Keep current on all tax legislation and administrative changes and effectively communicate any impact to the organization

-- Direct and lead tax department staff, including mentoring, reviews, and goal-setting.

 

Required Skills & Competencies:

-- 5+ years in a senior tax position in public accounting firm or public company

-- CPA designation

-- Prior experience leading a team and mentoring staff

-- Proficient with MS Excel, MS Access, and Sharepoint

-- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface seamlessly in a team environment at all levels

-- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business required

-- Experience in manufacturing or consumer products industry

-- Technology proficient with strong data analytic skills

-- Proven experience with programming and automation/change management

-- Knowledge of Enterprise One, SAP, or other similar ERP systems

-- Experience with managing complex projects involving multiple functions and departments
