Our client at Whitby looking for Material handler 

Salary, Shift and Location:

$15/hour

Rotating shift , Must be available for Day and afternoon shift

Days: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

Afternoons: Monday-Thursday, 3:15pm-1:45am

Must have external forklift certifications in Reach, Order Picker and Counter balance trucks.

Position Overview:

The material handler is to place materials in stores, maintain storage and issue materials in an accurate and controlled manner.

 

The Materials Handler is responsible for a variety of duties, including: loading, unloading and moving products and materials to the designated locations in the stores department, and assisting in picking and placing materials orders. The Materials Handler will be expected to be experienced and certified with Order Picker, Reach Truck and Counter Balance Truck. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

 

Essential Job Function

·         Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or equipment.

·         Use a forklift and other industrial equipment for unloading and moving products when needed.

·         May perform other activities such as assisting in taking inventory and weighing/checking materials.  

·         Pick material from stores for outbound orders, and ensure they are high quality materials being shipped.

·         Participate in clean-up and maintenance.

·         Perform other handling duties such as: counting, weighing, and sorting.

·         Put away received materials to proper storage locations as required

·         Confirm inventory transactions are complete.

·         Maintain a safe, clean and legally compliant workplace

·         Identify and document potential environmental and safety problems to members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

·         Maintain and adhere to all company policies and procedures

·         Completes required job control, inventory and related reports (example: Timecards)

·         Assemble materials into kits or re-package when necessary prior to stocking or issuing

·         Count and place inventory materials into stores, maintain storage and issue materials in an accurate and controlled manner.

·         Perform cycle counts and other counts checks as requested.

·         Select the most appropriate storage locations for new items or when storage re-organization is necessary. Update locations in SAP.

Requirements

 

·         Requires High School Diploma or equivalent work experience

·         1-3 years experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment

·         Ability to understand bill or material and other technical drawings

·         Certified forklift operator

·         Familiar with SAP software

·         Ability to work independently.

·         Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

·         Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.

 

Work Conditions

Employee may be required to work in potentially hazardous environments requiring protective equipment.
Employee may be exposed to dust, hazardous chemicals and high levels of noise.
Employee may be exposed to uncomfortable work settings; may have long combinations of standing, crouching, or sitting.
Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced environment.
Overtime as required.
