Sr Tax Analyst

Our client is a leading manufacturer in CPG industry.

The ideal candidate is an independent, results-oriented individual with excellent data analytical, technology, communication, and problem solving skills.
This role will be primarily responsible for the indirect tax requirements of the global operations for the group as well as support other global tax-related activities.

Responsibilities:
Core Duties:

  • Prepare and review all indirect reporting for U.S. and Canadian tax purposes, including sales and use, HST, property tax, withholding tax, business licenses, and unclaimed property
  • Manage all international indirect tax compliance (VAT), including coordination and review of reporting and payments to ensure compliance in an efficient, timely manner
  • Proactively monitor, analyze, and interpret Canadian and U.S. commodity tax legislative changes to ensure appropriate planning, compliance, and reporting
  • Understand and manage the company’s product taxability, resale/exemption certificate and license rules by jurisdiction
  • Assist with mergers and acquisitions from an indirect tax perspective, including due diligence and integration tasks
  • Identify and develop opportunities to modify and improve processes for data collection, management, and compliance
  • Support company’s finance, accounting, and business units with respect to specific queries,research tax issues, and provide solutions and recommendations
  • Interface with company’s tax advisors regarding indirect tax issues and planning opportunities
  • Act as key liaison on all indirect tax audits and queries, liaise with auditors, compile information, and provide responses in a timely manner; provide assistance with respect to other tax audits

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and project manage the implementation of various automation and software application projects
  • Prepare and review Canadian and U.S. income tax returns (federal, state, provincial, and local) as needed
  • Assist the tax team with other special and discrete projects as needed

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • 3+ years of progressive commodity tax experience (U.S. or Canadian) either in industry or public practice
  • Proficient with MS Excel, MS Access, and Sharepoint
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface seamlessly in a team environment at all levels
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business required
  • Pro-active, detail-oriented, self-motivating individual

Additional Desirable Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience in manufacturing or consumer products industry
  • Technology proficient with strong data analytic skills
  • Proven experience with programming and automation/change management
  • Knowledge of Enterprise One, SAP, or other similar ERP systems
  • Experience with managing complex projects involving multiple functions and departments
