Production Manager (automotive)

Our client is a machining manufacturer for automotive industry. 

Day shift,  $85-$100K 

Location: Concord, ON

Perm hire  

 

Required Qualifications

Education:

Minimum Post- Secondary Business/Operations Management or equivalent preferred.

Related Work Experience/Job Requirements:

Minimum 10 years’ experience in automotive industry products, processes and assembly management.
Must have an understanding of a stamping environment (Stampings facilities)
Must have own transportation
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
Must have a strong command of the English language (verbal, written and spoken)
Specific Skills:

High level leadership, organizational, and decision making skills
Able to motivate, influence, and train people
Able to interact with all professionals of Plant Management.
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications
Strong understanding of all aspects of the APQP processes
Strong understanding of ISO/TS 16949:2002 and ISO 14001 requirements

 

General Responsibilities

Safety

Must abide by and enforce the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations
Must abide by and enforce all Safety Policies and Procedures
Must abide by and enforce the Environmental Policy along with the “3R” (reduce, reuse and recycle)procedures
Must report all unsafe acts at all times
Must participate in plant meetings and continuous improvement initiatives
Must complete all requirements as outlined in the HR Training Matrix, HRS-F001
Must contribute to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the
Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 6S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize, support and safety) are supported and adhered to.

Quality

Must abide by and enforce all Quality Policies and Procedures
Must abide by and enforce all customer requirements as required
Must report all quality deficiencies at all times

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Plan, direct, and coordinate the manufacturing of products in compliance with company goals and objectives
Supervise the entire operation of production under the guidance of the General Manager
Manage the material, inventory control, and production scheduling tasks in order to ensure effective inventory turns
Maximize the efficiency of operation to ensure effective direct and indirect employee utilization
Analyze delivery and inventory issues and provide solutions
Must follow applicable documents such as Control Plans, Control Chats, operating instructions,etc.
Responsible for maintaining daily shift report to review shift performance with employees and other departments
Provide coaching and on the job training to motivate & ensure employees are capable of developing and meeting individual performance goals
Assess employees through the performance management process, while providing fair, consistent and ongoing feedback
Responsible for the performance review of all production personnel on the specified shift
Responds to employee issues through conflict management; investigates and resolve employee issues
Create and maintain a healthy team atmosphere to resolve issues positively and creatively
Assess direct reports using the corporately approved performance management process.
Maintain and approve employee hours in PLEX for payroll and accounting
Conduct progressive discipline process in collaboration with Human Resources as required
Investigate accidents and complete accident reports with Health and Safety Specialist/Huma
Resources and ensure preventative actions are implemented
Follow up and resolve any safety related items including AIR reports.
Responsible for taking a lead role in implementing and maintaining 6S practices
Review and adjust any inventory reporting and labeling issues in PLEX for employees.
Monitor production efficiency issues during shift and review shift reports for compliance to production standards.
Monitor and update Key Operating Indicators (KOI’s / KPI’s) as defined by management, ensuring targets are met
Establish and control conditions of production in order to satisfy customer and quality specifications
Participate actively in standardization, continual improvement, and cost reduction activities
Must demonstrate leadership and act as an example at all times.
Proactively investigates and resolves operational issues as they develop
Review and approve all leave of absence requests in a timely manner.
Participate actively in standardization, continual improvement, and cost reduction activities
Review and monitor operational processes to ensure that they support achievement of KPI’s with constant focus on continual improvement
Support all APQP activities to ensure the smooth execution of new program launches
Promote house-keeping disciplines to ensure overall cleanliness of the shop floor
Assist in development, implementation and maintenance of business procedures and systems to support ISO/TS 16949:2002 and ISO 14001 requirements and any other applicable legislative requirements
Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
