International Transportation Planner

We are looking for a Transportation Anaylst for a manufacturing company located in Concord. 

Full time, perm position

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

TheTraffic Team makes sure physical deliveries of raw materials and finished goods happen compliantly and on schedule.  As a member of the team you will help provide operational import/export compliance guidance to business units and help manage customs brokers, freight forwarders and other logistics service providers to ensure that shipments are delivered at the lowest total cost for the company whilst attaining acceptable service levels. 

 

You will often partner with internal and external partners to develop new policies and processes to meet compliance guidelines.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·         Take ownership of the end to end import/export of shipments taking initiative to investigate and solve issues which arise on both origin and destination sides of the equation.

·         Arranges import/export bookings with carriers. 

·         Issue manual import/export paperwork as needed.

·         Obtain and approve ocean and airfreight rates

·         Responsible for accurate order entry, and oversight of customer orders, special instructions and change requests.

·         Expertise in order date management to ensure accuracy of all incoming orders.

·         Release shipments to forwarders complete with all necessary information.

·         Schedule pre-booking of containers for import/export, balance costs, warehouse capabilities and lead times of various container options. (20’, 40’, port selection etc.)

·         Identify and execute opportunities to consolidate shipments for increased utilization.

·         Maintain expertize of regulations applicable to import/export.

·         Prepare application for and administer simple and complex export licenses, agreements and amendments as required by regulations.

·         Maintain excellent communication with forwarders monitoring progress of all shipments.  Timely communicate problems to ordering countries.

·         Generate reports for OTC, total lead time, total volume, transportation costs, container utilization and inventory in transit.

·         Maintain up to date process map of all activities, responsibilities, contacts and SOP for assigned areas of the world.

·         Develop, maintain and amend current Import/Export Compliance policies and procedures to comply with all regulations.

·         Responsible for ensuring application for applicable approvals, authorizations and licenses in order to properly import/export products or other items.

·         Monitor, assist and provide training to staff with regards to the interpretation of importing/exporting laws and regulations and applicable policies and procedures and product classification.

·         Monitor compliance with approved licenses and agreements and track licenses for renewal or re-submittal.

·         Assist with updating/auditing product SKU information as needed.

·         Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.

·         Execute special projects as assigned by Management team.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

 

·         Bilingual in Spanish is mandatory.  Chinese and Korean a plus as well.

·         Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics or other relevant field or relevant work experience.

·         3+ years in import/export role. 

·         Proficiency with import/export ocean container and air shipments required, including working knowledge of booking process, rates, and documentation. 

·         International Logistics Certifications are a plus.

·         Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred.

·         Advanced skill sets with MS Office applications – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Word, and Project.

·         Driven, Empathetic, decisive, diplomatic, with sound judgement and attention to detail.
