Essential Functions:

Maintenance of existing Microsoft Word templates using Visual Basic for Applications to provide both firm and departmental solutions.

Application support specifically as it relates to core and non-core applications and developed templates and macros.

Researching applications and/or utilities to fill the needs of users as requested and approved.

Writing small applications / macros as required and approved.

Support (telephone, in-person and email) of any groups utilizing non-core applications, such as, Litigation Support, the CMPA group, Library and Marketing and the Intellectual Property department.

Application support as it relates to these groups, including troubleshooting solutions to a conclusion, including interfacing with vendor technical support as required.

Application support of all issues that the Help Desk is unable to resolve relating to all applications in the environment.

This position will take all unresolved application Help Desk issues to conclusion in a timely manner, and will liaise with other members within the department in order to do so.

Assist the DBA with anything that he requires in terms of support for the databases relating to applications supported by this position.

Responsible for the planning, building, testing, and validating new software, application updates and patches, prior to being deployed to desktop computers.

Qualifications:

A recognized Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or its related discipline.

Minimum 3 years relevant working experience.

Creativity, flexibility, adaptability and intelligence.

Advanced troubleshooting skills.

The ability to effectively communicate with other Departments, as well as with other members of the Systems Department, in a timely and positive manner.

Expertise in Microsoft Office products, including the ability to write VBA (and/or .Net) add-ins for Office.

Good understanding of databases and the interrelationship between databases and programming code.

Familiarity with research methods to investigate, test and recommend new software.

Experience supporting Enterprise-level applications at an advanced level.

Experience with website development, CSS, and application development for any OS or platform would be an asset but is not required.

FileSite, Prolaw, MacPac, Workshare, Interaction, SQL Management Studio, Citrix, Microsoft Office Custom UI Editor, Microsoft Access, SQL Query language, Visual Basic for Applications
