Transportation Analyst

We are looking for a Transportation Analyst for a manufacturing company located in Concord. 

Full time, perm position

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

This position reports to the Transportation Manager and is responsible for analysis of supply chain costs as well as providing support in the day-to-day tasks of transportation operations. Analysis of supply chain data requires timely retrieval, analysis and presentation of data in formats that are clear, easily understood, and can be readily shared with other members of the organization. Support in Operations requires a clear understanding of distribution objectives, an interest and willingness to actively interact with vendors and other members of the team, and the ability to (1) ensure service to our customers by validating loads have carriers secured and deliver on time; (2) review cost and performance criteria; and (3) make recommendations on the most effective way to get things done.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide analytical support for supply chain strategic projects as defined by operations management in the following areas:

o   Domestic Transportation

o   Network Analysis

o   Pricing and bid analysis

  • Proficiently access vendor web portals (TMC, CASS, and other third party logistics providers) to retrieve, manipulate, and accurate report required data; ensure the accurate flow of data between the company and third party vendor systems
  • Validate accuracy of cost information for all domestic & international shipments
  • Develop and run reports on cost variance per lane versus primary carrier; identify outlines and work with Manager on resolving issues with primary carrier
  • Monitor and update key performance indicators and reports for primary supply chain vendors
  • Manage, develop and submit various management reports each period
  • Monitor and resolve failed transactions in
  • Analyze, review, and follow up with Finance department on domestic carrier claims
  • Assist CASS/FMI with carrier freight bill payment issues
  • Pursue professional development through on the job training and outside resources such as APICS, CSCMP, or other online or University Extension programs
  • Generate reports for OTC, total lead time, total volume, transportation costs, container utilization and inventory in transit.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics or other relevant field or relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years in transportation operations role.
  • Good financial understanding
  • Solid analytical capabilities for reviewing large amounts of data, summarizing the material for management, and identifying the critical issues at both the summary and detailed levels
  • Proficiency with import/export ocean container and air shipments required, including working knowledge of booking process, rates, and documentation.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred.
  • Prior experience with an integrated ERP system and handling transportation and operations related duties
  • Advanced skill sets with MS Office applications – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Word, and Project.
  • Driven, Empathetic, decisive, diplomatic, with sound judgement and attention to detail.
