Health & Safety Coordinator for a leading industrial manufacturer-Mississauga Please send resume to: resume2013@gc-employment.com with the title "Health & Safety Coordinator-Mississauga" For further information contact Prabhjot Rayat 416-850-5060 Ext. 231 EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED • 3-5 years of Manufacturing Health and Safety in a unionized environment. • Understands Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation. • WSIB Certification would be an asset. • Advanced leadership skills necessary to coach, develop, evaluate and facilitate health and safety policies and programs. • Thorough knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation. • Thorough knowledge of safe working practices/programs. • Proven interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. • Must be familiar with preparation of charts and graphs. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform an internal audit of the health and safety system to ensure programs meet the requirements of the company and applicable legislation and regulations. • Review, develop and maintain the health and safety system. • Manage all WSIB, STD and LTD claims. • Manage and train on the Return to Work program. • Develop and train new and existing employees in Health and Safety matters including pedestrian safety, hearing conservation, accident investigation, etc. • Health and Safety orientation of all new employees. • Arrange for testing of employees and potential employees, i.e., industrial lifting devices, hearing testing, etc. • Member of Emergency Response Team. • Head of First Aid Team. Arrange for first aid training and manage the program. • Distribute personal protective equipment and train employees accordingly. • Knowledge of the Canadian OH&SA • Review Material Safety Data Sheet for hazards when new products are received in the plant. • Representative on the monthly Health and Safety meeting and prepares agenda and monthly inspections. • Knowledge with COHE and machine guarding • Liaise with Government Officials when visiting the plant. • Assist supervisors with accident investigations. • Review accident trends with Managers and assist in the development of action plans to reduce injuries. • Complete monthly corporate reports (recordable injury, scoreboard, training, etc.) • Assist department managers with the establishment of Health and Safety Goals on a yearly basis. • Research and communicate changes in legislation and regulations. • Perform risk assessments and hazard analysis of specific work functions. • Maintain accurate records of safety shoes and safety glasses entitlements. • Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies and procedures at all times. Salary 50K-60K
