Maintenance Supervisor

 Reports to: Manager of Distribution Centre Operations

Working Conditions: Typical DC environment; some heavy lifting required; flexibility in work schedule to allow for repair work (i.e. repairs to conveyor systems, etc.).                      

Primary Purpose:

This position is responsible for ensuring that all material handling equipment in the DC is in proper working order, implementing power lift truck training and testing for all equipment operators. This position is also responsible for managing a team of Associates.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  •         Responsible for overseeing and ensuring that all material handling equipment is functioning properly.
  •         Accountable for ensuring that all building fixtures are functioning properly and executes the preventive maintenance accordingly.
  •         Responsible for ensuring that all drivers are properly trained in order to provide the safest work environment possible.
  •         Develops collaborative working relationships with internal team and external contractors that supports the overall achievement of facility goals.
  •         Executes and participates in the implementation of large capital projects ensuring budgeted timing and costs are met.
  •         Adheres to the  Collective Bargaining Agreement to  promote positive associate relations
  •         Supervises and provides direction to Associates to ensure all maintenance requirements are met within the required timelines.
  •         Responsible for addressing daily maintenance issues and escalating complex issues to management.

 

Job Specifications:

 

  •   High School diploma or equivalent with min of 2 years experience in supervising facility maintenance.
  •   Experience in supervising a team. 
  •   General knowledge of all aspects of power lift trucks and conveyor systems, including safety and training methods, PLC, electrical systems, pumping, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), and general mechanical procedures, DC maintenance requirements.
  •   Customer service skills including effectively and efficiently responding to Associate inquiries; identifying stated and unstated customer needs; building relationships with Associates; resolving any conflicts or problems that might arise; etc.
  •   Organizational skills including determining which repairs are of the highest priority, and preventative maintenance including regular testing and routine tune-ups of all equipment.
  •   Communication skills including written (reports, purchase orders, payments, invoices, etc.); verbal.
  •   Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail.
  •   Issue management skills (time management; interpersonal skills including conflict management; information gathering skills; team building skills to build collaborative working relationships).

 

Dimensions

  •  Directly supervises 5 employees.
  •  Responsible for purchasing all parts for repairs of material handling equipment.
  •  Responsible for overseeing mechanical contractors work on-site.
  •  Interacts with DC management and supervisors, and contractors

Location: Flexible to locate either Mississauga or Brampton, any shift.

Pay rate: $70K+
