HESS Site Supervisor (Health, Environment, Safety & Sustainability)

Our client, a global leading custom product manufacturer in Concord, is looking for a energetic HESS Site Supervisor (Health, Environment, Safety & Sustainability) who is willing to spend pretty much time on plant floor.

 

Purpose

In accordance with the Corporate Core Values and associated CHESS (Corporate Health, Environment, Safety & Sustainability) Department Policies, the HESS Site Supervisor drives continual improvement in health, environmental, safety and sustainability performance of the assigned Corporate facility and provides guidance and support to site and General Manager regarding HESS issues.

Position will also work closely with the Corporate HESS team.

Work Results & Essential Actions

·         Provide technical guidance concerning site HESS issues – site subject matter expert.

·         Establishment and maintenance of site HESS objectives and targets.

·         Development and execution of tactical and strategic plans to improve HESS performance.

·         Manage the HESS training program, including new hire, job-specific, contractor and required refresher training.

·         Manage the site HESS Committee.

·         Manage site HESS communications.

·         Manage site incident and injury reporting, investigation and recordkeeping.

·         Assist in the management of worker’s compensation claims and the site Corporate Return to Work program.

·         Manage the site HESS corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely follow-up and implementation.

·         Manage the site waste management program including sustainability initiatives.

·         Ensure the timely completion of all required safety, environmental and sustainability reporting to internal and external interested parties.

·         Maintain the site HESS recordkeeping program.

·         Manage site hazard assessments.

·         Manage site hazard communication program, including SDS management and required training.

·         Manage site Safety Management Systems.

·         Manage site process safety management or E2 program, where applicable.

·         Manage required environmental permits monitoring and testing.

·         Manage the facility leadership & employee safety programs.

·         Manage the management of change process.

·         Manage the site security programs.

·         Manage site emergency response programs.

·         Support hazardous materials transportation compliance.

Position Criteria
 
Education

University Degree: Engineering, Science, Safety, or Industrial hygiene a plus. 

Equivalent experience will be considered.

CRSP Certified.

 

Experience

5+ years of environmental, health and safety compliance experience in a manufacturing environment. 

Detailed knowledge and understanding of federal, state/provincial and local HESS regulations is required.

Experience in the chemicals or consumer products industry is a plus. 

Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Plans (RMP) or Emergency response requirements is a plus.

Travel & Availability

On-the-job required travel time: Under 25%

Availability: 24/7

 

Computer skills

Proficient computer skills with MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel or equivalent programs.

 

Reasoning ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Physical activity

This position primarily requires an employee to walk and perform tasks in an industrial environment and can involve sitting for extended periods of time at a computer work station. 

Ability to walk and stand up to 50% of the time and climb ladders occasionally.

Ability to wear all required PPE, including respiratory protection, and work as an emergency responder for health, chemical, fire or weather related incidents.

Employees filling this position must be able to hear, talk, and see to be able to adequately fulfill their position’s responsibilities.

Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

 

Salary: $80K plus bonus
