Line Leader_Scarborough

Leading Comsetics campny is looking for Line Leader to join the team in the Scarborough Area. 

Purpose and Scope:

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor(s), the Line Leader has overall accountability for the shift efficiency of their
line(s) from filling to packaging. The Line Leader will focus on high quality products being produced safely, on-time,
and at required cost. The Line Leader will work alongside Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering departments as
required.


The Line Leader manages a team of approximately 10 to 40 line workers.


Key Accountabilities:

Shift Summary:

  • Maintenance of workflow by monitoring steps of the process: Observing control points and
    equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions;
    facilitating corrections to malfunctions.
  • Monitor and ensure production line safety and adherence to GMP.
  • Follow established flow of work orders for the line, communicate with Lead Hand(s) on completion of
    orders and request next order.
  • Coordinate hourly rotations
  • Working on the assembly line and rotate through key positions when required.
  • Communicate line and personnel issues (Safety, quality, downtime, etc.) to Supervisor or Lead Hand.
  • Liaise with Quality Inspectors and Quality Operations Supervisors in developing and implementing the
    Right First Quality Culture
  • Perform all the required Line Checks including, but not limited to, Line Clearance, Start Up checks,
    and all the required variable checks (eg.: Fill weight checks, Torque checks, etc.)
  • Perform the AQL inspections as requested by Quality Inspectors or Supervisors, to assess the extent
    of the prevalence of Quality Issues (e.g.: Failure of In-Process checks)
  • All other duties as required by Supervisor

Tasks & Forms:

  • Accurate capture of Labor Ticket by computer.
  • Accurate capture of line status, safety and detailed comments in Vorne.
  •  Accurate capture of huddle and rotation form.
  • Recording quantities in production daily logbook.
  • Follow sampling guidelines and ensuring samples are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Fill and complete required documentation in accordance with GDP (Good Documentation Practice)
    with high emphasis on accuracy.

Areas of focus (Ensuring the following):

  • Adherence to Line Schematic: Achieving target efficiency with correct crew size and production line
    layout (Including barriers where required).
  • Verify components by Part ID and notify Lead Hand of any shortages
  • Crew members are abiding by company policies.
  • Production lines are running neat and organized at all times.
  • Production lines start on time after lunch/break.
  • Crew has been huddled according to MFPS prior to performing tasks.
  • Training of new employees when necessary.
  • Ensuring line efficiency, mitigating bottlenecks and reduce scrap (Coded bottles, folded unit cartons,etc).

Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements

  • Post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment preferably
    in cosmetics, pharmaceutical or CPG industry.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a Line Leader within a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience as a people manager, leader, developing and coaching a team
  • Ability to follow directions with limited supervision and working independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Written and verbal).
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative, and proactive.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Basic knowledge in math.
  • Administrative skills.
  • Decent computers skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Handling medium to heavy loads
  • Must be able to handle a box cutter and tape gun
  • Manual dexterity
  • Repetitive tasks in fast paced environment
  • Standing for long periods of time
