Quality Engineer

Our client, a fast-growing engineering resources company, is hiring Quality Engineer to join the team as soon as possible.

This position is responsible for working directly with quality control, analyzing manufacturing processes and statistical information for improvement by identifying various
methods of testing and inspection.

Working Location: Casa Grande, Arizona.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement quality systems and procedures that can transfer or scale as the organization grows, ensure that the customer’s expectations are communicated clearly to the organization via controlled documentation. Establishes and leads the implementation of control plans per customer expectations.
  • Define and program/setup gaging methods for measuring injection moulded parts on new and existing products or processes. Develop and present options for mitigating or improving measurement repeatability.
  • Leverages a strong problem-solving toolset to systematically develop options to fix quality’s measurement, process, or reporting issues.
  • Conducts equipment/process qualification against provided run-off criteria.
  • Maintain and develop customer relations: speak with customer contacts regularly to inquire about product performance and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Maintain and develop supplier relations: clarify our requirements, initiate improvement, and monitor performance. 
  • Initiate and manage corrective action: lead the corrective action process for the purpose of resolving both internal and external quality issues.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data to monitor quality performance and reduce nonconforming occurrences.
  • Monitor part and defect specific scrap levels at all processes and implement cost reduction actions.
  • Creation and maintenance of TS 16949 documents: involved in PPAP submission, development of PCP, FMEA, new product launch and internal documentation, and all relevant APQP.
  • Assist with daily production issues.  Develop rework strategies, modify processes, establish acceptance criteria, etc.
  • Involvement in continuous improvement activities related to Quality, Productivity, Engineering, TS16949 etc.
  • erform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Strong technical background coupled with a minimum three-year diploma in mechanical engineering or materials engineering or equivalent.
  • Must have experience in a plastic injection moulding manufacturing environment, preferred experience in metal stamping industry.
  • Must be familiar with best practices in Quality Assurance, application of SPC, tool design, error proofing techniques, ISO 14001 and TS 16949.
  • Hands-on, well organized, possess good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong team player who takes initiative to identify, investigate, problem solve and make recommendations to resolve problems.
  • Able to work overtime as required.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles required.
  • Maintain a valid passport and flexible to travel to customer sites in North America and abroad.
