Setup Mechanic - Summerstown ON, Cornwall, ON

We are looking for a Setup Mechanic for our client - a leading manufacturer of food packaging.

• Location: Summerstown, ON
• Rate: $ 21/hr
• Shift: Evening (3pm to 11pm, Monday to Friday)
• Report to: Plant Manager
• Temp to Full-Time

Essential functions:

• Comply with all EHS policies, procedures and safe work instructions in place
• Prepare toolings & foils for upcoming jobs
• Set up tools on machines adhering to cycles required
• Report any inconsistencies of operation to the lead hand
• Insure that the machines are operating safely and properly
• Inform supervisor when maintenance is required on the machines
• Perform machine set ups and assist with machine difficulties
• Communicate any pertinent information concerning the operation of machines to the supervisor
• Check the machine for various things such as cycles, operation, tooling, heating, forming, ejection and cutting function of machines
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the machines (oil leaks, plastic pieces inside the machines, grease on control panel)
• Maintain clean premises in the production area and around the machines
• Handle various tools and material
• Perform all other jobs or tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years prior experience working in a similar role with an excellent mechanical aptitude 
• Strong leader with good interpersonal skills and written/oral communication skills
• A continuous improvement mindset with analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple and diverse tasks with minimal supervision and the willingness to be flexible with job responsibilities
• Ability to meet the scheduling and attendance expectations of the role, including evening, weekend and holiday hours as appropriate
• Strong ability to communicate, verbally and written
