Batcher / Mixer - Etobicoke

Our client is the leading liquid food and beverage company in Toronto. They are currently looking for Batcher / Mixer to work for the continental shifts.

Job Type: Term to perm

Location: Gardiner Expressway and Kipling Avenue

Pay Rate: totally $23/hour

Shift: continental (15 days of Day shift: 7 am to 7 pm; 15 days of night shift: 7 pm to 7 am) 3-4 working days per week

Starting date: ASAP

 
 Responsibilities
Adjust processing machines & equipment
Start up & shut down machines, troubleshoot equipment
Take samples
Monitor instruments
Measure weight & load ingredients following formula
Consult the production schedule on the dedicated wall
Identify which product you need to batch (name, quantity, production code, etc.)
Pick the detailed formula sheet matching with the product to batch
Calculate one by one the exact quantities required for each & every ingredient involved (# of liters, #of cases, #of kg, etc.)
Calculate the amount of product that will be generated by 1 batching procedure
Calculate how many batching cycles will be necessary to generate the total volume of product required on the formula sheet
Add up the numbers for each ingredient (up to 13 ingredients involved), in order to obtain the final volume needed for each of them
Provide instructions to the helper to collect all ingredients from the staging areas (in the railway section, the cooler, in the batching areas, etc.)
Measure, weigh, and portion each ingredient collected
After preparing all ingredients & portions, collect formula documents to input instructions in central monitoring computer / control panel
Input & set temperature on the panel
Input & select designated batching tank on the panel
Input & select required amount of water to use, select the command on the panel to release water into the tank
Monitor the ingredients, as ingredients have to be added one after the other, carefully respecting the instructions & timing on the formula sheet 
Input & select required additional amount of water, select the command on the panel to release additional water into the tank
Make sure the mixing tank OR the blending tank is processing ingredients
Monitor timing according to the formula sheet
Supervise the collection of sample & coordinate with Quality Control Lab for verification, testing, and approval
Collect formal & written approval from the Quality Technician and save the records
Release the content of the batching tank that has been approved into the sterilizer
Participate in daily sanitation of the tanks
Perform cleaning procedures & CIP by following supervisor’s instructions
Complete all required traceability documents & QA documentation
Observe all Safety rules and promote a safe working environment with team members
Maintain strict GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
Comply at all times with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
·       Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
·       Compliance with the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
·       Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
Previous related process/batching experience is an asset
Grade 12 education or equivalent experience, ability to read, to write, and to speak in English
Attention to details is critical, Aptitude for numbers and have basic computer skills
Ability to lift 50 lbs. bags, ability to perform physically demanding work and to multi Task
Ability to work in an environment with variable temperatures (2 Celsius degrees in the cooler, 35 Celsius degrees in the machine room)
Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time, to work with minimal supervision
Good Mechanical and Technical Aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment
