QC Coordinator

Our client, a leading Cosmetics manufacturing company is looking for a QC Coordinator to join their growing team.

Location: Scarborough, ON

Shift: Day

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating and/or facilitating testing, inventory management, equipment administration, document retention, lab status and training in the lab. This includes coordinating sample receipt, labeling, retention, and testing.
  • Manages lab equipment calibration, maintenance, and installation. Responsible for maintaining lab inventory of reagents and consumables.
  • Manages daily work planning, special requests, management of Planning’s priority list and communication of lab status through applicable tools.
  • Maintains training records and schedules for the labs.

Key Roles & Duties: 

Laboratory Support

  • Coordinate and facilitate lab equipment calibration, maintenance, service calls. May also include ordering new equipment, making arrangements for installation, and qualification as needed. Responsible for maintaining master equipment list and equipment quality records (equipment calibration, maintenance records, and log books)
  • Perform sample receipt, sample labeling and acknowledgement of samples in SAP and reconcile samples as needed
  • Organize testing documentation to prepare for testing (i.e. vendor CoAs, specifications, inspection instructions)
  • Coordinate sample retains and maintain sample retain location
  • Archive lab records for document retention
  • Monitor imported OTC/NHP finished goods
  • Other sample management responsibilities include coordinating R&D & PD approval for pre-ship fragrance disposition, facilitating request for shelf life extensions (RM, Mass, FG) and supporting the test qualification program by tracking qualification levels and entering data into SAP
  • Coordinate, log and ship third party samples and outsourced testing
  • Create lab incident reports for the global safety program, provide support to global safety inspections, coordinate waste removal and forward SDS to Global Safety
  • Track and monitor Raw Material Qualification Program, as applicable
  • Track and monitor Standards Management Program for raw materials & products (mass) and coordinate requests for new standards
  • Coordinate technical support and follow up for laboratory investigations / QNs
  • Reports any QC laboratory recommendations to the site's Chemical Hygiene officer and QA Lab Management

Inventory Management

  • Maintain inventory of reagents and consumables, anticipate supply needs, place and expedite orders for suppliers and verify receipt of supplies, labeling and expired items sweeps, as needed.

Planning & Scheduling

  • Manage daily work planning, special requests, management of Planning’s priority list and communication of lab status through applicable tools

Training for QA and QC Labs

  • Track training schedules
  • Manage training records

Job Requirements & Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 2 year's experience working in a similar role in the pharmacautical/cosmetics/food industry.
  • Experience in a microbiology, analytical chemistry or product evaluation laboratory in Quality Control for a global consumer goods or pharma company is a plus
  • Solid awareness and practice of safe lab procedures
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing techniques (GMP, GDP and Good Lab Practices) and basic understanding of laboratory equipment (e.g., Viscometer, ACS Color Computer, Vitek, Analytical Instrumentation)
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills and ability to appropriately communicate information to management
  • Knowledge of cosmetic ingredients & manufacturing procedures preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP systems is preferred
  • Must be flexible to work different shifts and overtime as needed
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
