Our client, a fast growing beauty company is hiring a head of production to join their etobicoke location.
The Head of Production leads day-to-day manufacturing operations and ensures the department run reliability and efficiently.
Working location: Etobicoke
The primary functions
- Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime
- Oversee a workforce of 200+ employees in the production department by creating schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels
- Oversee production processes; Plan and organize production schedules; manage timeline and ensure all areas of the department are productive
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, personnel skills and training needs, department space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Work with QA/QC department to determine, implement and document quality control standards
- Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines by selecting materials for purchase, budget and forecast raw materials and labor to meet production goals
- Ensure all employees follow company GMP policies and procedures as well as industry standard health and safety guidelines
- Supervise and manage the work of junior staff; establish consistent schedules, breaks, and paid time off (PTO) protocol to maintain an efficient work environment.
- Set production goals and communicate them to key personnel and staff regularly.
- Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations with at least 7 years in a management capacity a must.
- Must have specific work experience in cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industry.
- Minimum of a Bachelors’ degree a must with lean manufacturing training and experience preferred.
- Ability to create and monitor KPIs to accurately forecast daily/weekly/monthly production targets to meet production demands.
- Ability to develop and introduce best-in-class master production scheduling practices through a thorough evaluation of the current planning and production processes.
- Strong project management, organizational, analytical and computer skills including
- Microsoft Office and applicable proprietary software applications with ability to integrate new technology (ERP systems) into an existing business environment.
- Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety
- Working knowledge of OSHA and ESA and GMP standards and regulations preferred
