Continuous Improvement Manager

Our client, a leading beauty company, is looking for a Continous Improvment Manager to join their growing team.

Location: Etobicoke, ON

Reporting to the director of operations.

 

Position Overview
A driven, results-oriented experienced Continuous Improvement Manager (CIM) and expert with a proven track record, bringing excellence to our organization by auditing, analyzing and implementing continuous process improvements to achieve end-to-end optimization of business processes and systems. The CIM will be responsible for Continuous Improvement initiatives with a strong focus on operational improvements and best practice optimization for our production/warehouse facilities while meeting all of the quality standards set forth by the company and government regulations. The successful candidate will work side-by
side with management staff to discover inefficiencies in business processes and determine the best ways to bring our business methods in line with our financial goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • In charge of the introduction and Execution of
    • Continuous improvement program (CIP) and Strategic plan.
    • Reason code process.
    • Tools.
    • KPI report for the Operational site.
  • Within Operations, the CIP manager is responsible for:
    • Setting up of standards and targets to increase efficiency.
    • Process optimization and standardization.
    • Review process value stream mapping and recommend staffing levels, materials, machines, methods and performance metrics (measurements) to ensure an effective operation.
    • Consulting and supporting of the management to achieve the targets for productivity and quality.
    • Support site management in its strategic planning process and its implementation by taking ownership of relevant projects and by taking a leading role in other programs; e.g. Manufacturing Fundamentals.
    • Coaching of leadership teams in the definition and realization of their CIP projects and the utilization of the CIP tools.
    • Conducting CIP trainings.
    • Sustainable resolution of systemic issues by applying value stream analysis process.
    • Develop CI methodology, perform training, coaching and assessment, in collaboration other functions.
    • Manage the operations “Good to Great” cost savings programs, meetings and action lists.
    • Documentation of CIP activities.
  • Support the Quality Department by leading the operational root cause analysis and Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) projects.
  • Utilize problem solving capabilities to build an CI culture such as Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, SMED and Six Sigma skills.
  • Fairly and consistently adhere to all Company and Plant procedures, work rules and guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • University Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or equivalent
    education and experience as determined by management;
  • 15+ years of continuous improvement management, re-engineering experience including but not limited to procedure analysis, business processes, integration of new initiatives;
  • Working experience in the FDA/Health Canada Regulated Cosmetic/Pharmaceutical Field
    is required.
  • ASQ Certified CMQ/OE and CSSBB.
  • Practical experience using modern Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement
    methods (LEAN, TPS, SQDCI etc.);
  • Proven knowledge and experience in applying Six Sigma and Lean Transformations in
    manufacturing operations, leading change and educating others on Lean principles and
    deployment planning;
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical and computer skills including Microsoft Office and applicable proprietary software applications with ability to integrate new technology into an existing business environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - must be able to articulate a clear vision through presentations with senior management using strong logic and compelling data;
  • Proven ability to identify and respond to the short, medium and long-term business priorities that govern the direction of various initiatives;
  • Must be a disciplined self-starter who is self-motivated. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually is critical for success;
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thought processes to develop, recommend and implement strategies and programs that address plant and corporate objectives;
  • Proven ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
