Head of Analytical Testing (Quality)

Our client, a leading beauty company, is looking for a Head of Analytical Testing (Quality) to join their growing team.

Location: Etobicoke, ON

Working hours: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Salary: up to 120K (depends on experience)

Responsibilities:

• Develop analytical method for scentific research deparments using a range of software, techniques, equipment such as HPLC, ICP-MS, UV Vis Spectrophotometer, GC and NMR to carry out research and analysis.
• Independently execute and troubleshoot analytical activities such as method transfer, method validation, method performance qualification, method performance verification and stability studies.
• Design and establish sampling protocols as well as method analysis of finished products and raw materials o ensure qualitative and quantitative results meets the company requirement.
• Maintain and further improve department quality systems and procedures for development of analytical methods. 
• Oversee in-process testing of process intermediates during process development and scale-up.
• Perform data analysis, documentation and reporting of results in accordance with the company standard operating procedure (SOP).
• Conduct required analytical testingand lab tasks as requested in support to new manufacturing projects using Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) under minimal supervision.
• Prepare documents for regulatpry submissions and/or review (eg. new product applications, standard operatiing procedures (SOPs), standard test methods (STMs), qualification and alidation protocols and reports.
• Provide technical support and training to other team members where required on troubleshooting, procedure mplementation, instrument set up and method issue. 
• Provide leadership and guiddance in the design eand execution of analytical methods in the developmental stage.
• Performdepartment task such as ordering supplies, new instrumentation/technologies and lab cleaning.
• Ensure timely comletion of projects based on defined deadlines.
• Perform and promote clean and safe laboratory analytical operations.
• Establish Calibration and Maintenance Schedule programs for in-house analytical instruments.
• Ensure compliance to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in accordance with in-house SOP guidlines.
• Writing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for newly established process and methods.
• Writing weekly reports on project progress.
• Maintain a culture of teamwork and cross-functioning collaboration with R&D and Quality departments.
• Build and organize a well-functioning Analytical Research and Development. department to meet Quality R&D and corporate goals.
• Maintain high level of technical knowledge in areas of responsibility.
• Apply the knowledge, skills and experience obtained to increase efficiency in solving new problems.
• Maintain good documentation and exercise clear, concise communication skills. 
• Participate in other activities (e.g administrative) of the department, as requested.

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, research or clinical industry combined with a M.Sc degree. Candidate possessing a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry combined with five (5) years of pharmaceutical/analytical laboratory experience in the leadership or equivalent capacity is an asset.
