Compounding Supervisor

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Oversees the manufacturing department including batching/compounding and filing processes, trains and supervises department staff; develops and initiates policies and procedures in compliance with G.M.P., WHMIS, Safety and Environmental requirements as well as labour standards and other government regulations.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares daily and weekly schedules for Compounders
Monitors the manufacturing process to ensure that job specifications are met.
Responsible to ensure jobs meet standard costs, measuring efficiency and taking corrective action to ensure standard costs are met.
Direct the inspection and control of all manufacturing equipment in the department.
Maintains control of work in process bulk and raw material storage of chemicals, including inventories of these areas.
Trains all employees in the proper method of operating equipment or performing critical tasks; particular attention must be given to new hires or transferred employees from other departments.
Trains and records all Standard Operating Procedures directly related to manufacturing.
Attends and reports to daily production meetings.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Ensures compliance with G.M.P., OHSA, WHMIS, Environmental requirements
Actively participates in all accident investigations and ensure follow-up and corrective actions are completed
Must have a thorough knowledge of the potential hazards of every operation in the work area including potential environmental discharges.
Ensure all physical and mechanical hazards are corrected or managed appropriately
ADMINISTRATION
Maintains open communication with other departments regarding operation related issues.
Supports scheduler with coordination of daily/ weekly, long range capacity and resource planning schedule
Tracking and reporting on NCR’s (bulk rejections, inaccuracies, cost of rejections) and corrective actions.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Post-Secondary Education
Experience: Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in CPG manufacturing
Supervisory: 5 years (Preferred)
Manufacturing: 5 years (Preferred)
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Full knowledge of Compounding/CPG industry; effective communication skills; WHMIS; health and safety knowledge; supervisory leadership, team building and strong organizational skills with ability to problem solve and prioritize.
