MATERIAL HANDLER /FORK LIFT OPERATOR

Our client is a leading Packaging solution provider in Pharmaceutical and healthcare industry.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for retrieving and staging materials for the production area. Controls inventory of pencils and staging first in/first outlines for Gluing. Moves, handles, wraps and prepares finished goods for production staging. Supports the Shipping and Receiving Warehouse Leads as required.

Location: Neilson and Finch

Shift: Night (5:30 PM to 3:30 AM)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB

  • Core skills in Mathematics and English usually associated with the completion of high school.
  • At least six month’s experience with material handling, operating a forklift (licensed- Counterbalance).
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability and dexterity to operate complex manufacturing equipment including forklift (licensed), skid turner, taper, pump cart.
  • Excellent organizational skills to retrieve and store materials efficiently.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • PC literacy and the ability to learn/use custom software programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH PERFORMING THE JOB

  • Retrieves and stages materials for production. Interacts with the operator for guidance.
  • Responsible for inventory control of pencils and staging fi/fo lines for Gluing (first in/first out).
  • Moves, handles, wraps and prepares for production staging.
  • Supports the shipping/receiving/inventory job tasks and activities. Includes unloading raw materials, board stock, and corrugated as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring documentation and paperwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Keeps counts and enters in the system.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping in Production.
  • Must follow GMP, Quality, and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Responsible for other duties as required.


MENTAL EFFORT REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB
Mental attentiveness and dexterity required to operate forklift and other equipment.Concentration and attention to detail as well as reading comprehension required to review, understand and complete documentation; stage product for warehousing, production and/or shipment, etc.

PHYSICAL EFFORT TO PERFORM THE JOB
Physical capacity to walk and stand throughout the workday. Frequent bending, reaching and stretching. Lifting up to 50lbs (assisted as needed/for greater amounts). Pushing/pulling up to 500 to 1,000lbs with the use of a pump truck.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB
Works within established guidelines. Works in an environment that has continuous noise from production machinery. Moderate exposure to paper dust, some chemicals, outside elements, and truck exhaust. Operates complex and potentially dangerous machinery.
