Financial Analyst (3-month contract)

SUMMARY:

The Financial Analyst (FA) role is responsible for assisting in the preparation of month-end close, financial reporting analysis and customer profitability across the division. As a key member of the Divisional Finance team, the FA will work closely with both Divisional and Plant Finance staff to provide analytical support and key information that will be used by all levels of the business. The FA role is hands-on and fast-paced, requires strong analytical skills, the ability to prioritize and an acute eye for detail and accuracy.


Position is out of our head office in Concord, Ontario

 

Essential Job Functions/ Principal Responsibilities

·         Assist with month-end close for divisional operations including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations

·         Prepare monthly financial reports with related financial variance analysis

·         Assist with analyzing profitability by product/service/customer across the lines of business

·         Participate in the preparation of quarterly corporate financial requirements

·         Assist with the business’ forecasting and budget processes

·         Assist in the preparation of annual audit supporting working papers and analysis

·         Support annual external audit requirements, including providing relevant supporting documentation

·         Assist in development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives

·         Ad hoc analysis and projects as requested

 

Qualifications (Requirements/ Skills)

 

·         Must have a post-secondary business degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce

·         Intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge

·         Effective communication skills (written & verbal)

·         Understanding of accounting processes, procedure and internal controls

·         Strong research and analysis skills

·         Ability to succeed in a team environment

·         Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently

·         Excellent organization skills

·         Ability to manage competing priorities
