New Business Sales Associate

Our client, a leading insurance broker and consultant, is looking for New Business Associates to join their Sales team. We are looking for individuals with Life Insurance or Dilability Insurance experience and a LLPQ license or pursuing one. 

 

Full-time; temp to perm role 

Location: Toronto, ON

Salary: $45K-$60K, based on experience

 

Summary: The New Business Associate is responsible for assisting our Advisors by processing applications, settlements and ongoing communication between the organization, carriers and our clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing applications for accuracy and submitting them to the respective insurance carriers. 
  • Order medical underwriting requirements including, MVR & Inspection Reports.
  • Utilize carrier software for quotes/illustrations, where applicable.
  • Utilize software as a check for medical requirements as applicable.
  • Follow up and resolve issues from obtaining APS (with client, with client’s doctor’s office).
  • Escalate any issue with the application to the financial advisor to effectively complete the application process.
  • Ensure all documents are filed in Client files as well as Sales Force.
  • Communicate with Clients and Financial Advisors status of application throughout the process.
  • Review annual tax returns and year-to-date billings to calculate take-home earnings.
  • Review corporate financial statements and income-splitting scenarios for joint corporations.
  • Compare group and individual plans.
  • Update Sales Force and Client Files with business correspondence, client contact and corrected policy information.
  • Acknowledge receipt of emails or telephone calls from clients immediately and respond to clients regarding client enquiries or concerns within 24 hours.
  • Update clients In-force insurance summaries with backup support from the Insurance Carrier sites.
  • Maintain accurate records of all calls in Sales Force and provide an email to Financial Advisors of incoming calls.
  • Maintain client files, updating their status to ensure company’s database is up to date.
  • Escalate problematic issues to Senior Financial Advisors/Director of Operations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education and strong financial acumen
  • 3-5 years of experience in Life Insurance or Disability Insurance role
  • 1 to 2 years of Accounting/Finance experience an asset
  • Life License - LLPQ (or working towards obtaining one)
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM applications, for example Sales Force
  • Understanding of products including Discounts & Deadlines for GWL DI Grad Program, RBC Student Initiative, Manulife GAP
  • Understanding of Life, Living Benefits and Health & Dental Insurance Background
  • Knowledge of Insurance Companies quoting systems an asset
  • Ability to escalate and follow process/procedures
  • Ability to provide a superior level of customer service
