Machine Operator/Rewinder - Scarborough, ON

Our client in the leading printing and graphic designing company is hiring for Machine Operator/Rewinder to start ASAP.

Shift: 

Monday to Friday - Morning (5 AM to 3:30 PM)

POSITION PURPOSE

To slit, rewind and perform a final inspection of printed labels. Prepares labels for packing and delivery to customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Setup rewind machine to cut, splice and rewind for specified counts on finished label rolls.
2. Inspect and rewind printed materials, remove non-conforming labels or product and prepare finished rolls to correct specifications.
3. Notify the Shift Leader if a significant portion of the job is defective to determine if it can be reworked.
4. Ensure proper core size, copy positions and label count are adhered to, based on customer requirements located in the docket.
5. Enter and verify that accurate information appears in the docket on all rewound orders. Keep accurate records and complete checklists, as directed.
6. Clean rewind equipment, load finished labels onto pallets and place docket on orders ready for shipping.
7. Provide operational support as required by employees in the same or other departments (e.g., Quality, Shipping).
8. Conduct/perform all tasks while complying with all Company and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
9. Perform all other duties, as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. periodically.
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending and machine operation.
  • Able to sit/stand/walk/lift the majority of the day.
  • Hand and arm dexterity to make adjustments to equipment.
  • Strong visual acuity.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed high school diploma. Additional training and certification in office systems is preferred. Completed post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Proven reliability. Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Completed all company training as assigned.
  • Excellent relationship management skills. Builds credibility and trust by capably following through on commitments.
  • Intermediate or higher levels of literacy and proficiency with reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible shift times.
  • Technical aptitude including basic math.
  • English communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Must maintain a clean and safe work area at all times in accordance with all company
  • Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Excellent visual acuity.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and tactfully handle stressful situations.
