Director of Operations

Our client, a leading manufacturer of skin care, makeup, fragrance, and hair care products, is looking for a Director of Operations. The Director of Operations will manage all aspects of compounding and finished goods production in alignment with the manufacturing strategy and annual operating plans to deliver best total quality, service, and cost while maintaining the highest safety and cGMP requirements.

Salary: $125K - $130K

Location: Markham, ON

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Business, Engineering, or technical related field. Graduate degree is a plus.
• 7-10 years in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated progression through various levels of management and responsibilities.
• Experience managing multiple areas of a manufacturing environment including production, warehouse, operations and facilities
• Demonstrated people management capability in an organization employing 500 – 1000 associates with a track record of building human capital; team building, interpersonal skills, communication and negotiation.
• Must have a successful track record of driving and leading organizational change, implementing lean and continuous improvement principles, and delivering net productivity improvements.
• Very strong analytical capabilities.
• Working knowledge in a CPG environment preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure operational standards for cost, quality, delivery, environmental, health and safety are met.
• Develop and drive positive cultural change in compounding and production through operations performance improvement plans and confident leadership.
• Interface with Planning, QA, and R&D in ensuring customer expectations are managed.
• Leverage manufacturing capacity, capabilities and best practice.
• Direct implementation and execution of the continuous improvement process to achieve: net productivity targets, best total cost of production targets, quality targets, inventory turns and material flow improvements, lead time reduction, new product implementation, world class service level performance, and GMP compliance standards targets.
• Partner with the Director of Lean & CI to drive Lean and Continuous Improvement and ensure all timelines are achieved.
• Manage and lead all manufacturing functions in accordance with established corporate & local management policies, procedures and objectives.
• Provide general and specific direction to direct reports in order to meet short and long term business and personal goals.
• Build, develop and manage an operations team capable of executing operations strategies, tactics and annual plans.
• Develop and manage direct reports Performance Development Plans that are in support of the business strategy and the individual’s continued growth.
• Ensure complete compliance with all statutory and corporate EHS policies eg. PPE, WHIMS, GMP, ISO 140001, etc.
• Develop a ZERO loss Safety Culture through driving best in class safety initiatives.
