Our client, a leading manufacturer of automotive parts, is looking for a Materials Manager to join their team. We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of supply chain, materials/inventory, and logistics experience in leadership roles within manufacturing with a preference for previous automotive manufacturing experience.

Job Responsibilities:
- Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments and/or consolidating warehousing and distribution, and assess any required changes.
- Assist operations and production group, with optimizing and level loading of schedules and inventories to improve productivity and OEE.
- Monitor supplier performance of on time delivery requirements and to avoid premium freight, and action if corrective actions are required.
- Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
- Implement new or improved supply chain processes, with continuous improvement always in mind.
- Confer with customer service planners and supply chain planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials and products.
- Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, optimize customer service and ensure subcontractor delivery quantities are optimized.
- Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, and new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material, packaging and production flow.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as purchasing, engineering and supplier quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers as requested.
- Liason with the purchasing group related to strategic and tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, and receiving.
- Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas.
- Manage, record and report Department KOIs (ie Freight, Inventory turns, etc.)
- Responsible for departmental hiring and performance reviews.
- Responsible for following and enforcing Health and Safety standards and policies.
- Other related duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education or significant industry experience.
- Must have previous supervisory or management experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a logistics role.
- Knowledge of Production Planning and Processing, Transportation, and Management is a must.
- Strong communication skills, technical proficiency, and ability to meet targets.
- Excellent leadership skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment in conjunction with various departments.
