Demand Planner

Our client, a growing color cosmetics brand, is looking for a Demand Planner to join their team in North York. The organization requires a Demand planner with a system focus, high energy and initiative who can work alongside the COO and Operation team to lead the organization to the next level of growth and profitability. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in an entrepreneurial type environment without large corporate infrastructure.

Salary: $60K - $75K

This Demand Planning is responsible for all forecasting and purchasing activities to ensure appropriate inventory levels to support sales globally. The Demand Planner creates and maintains demand projection models, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, retailer replenishment analysts, and other sources. The Demand Planner will also be responsible for identifying the products that are to be purchased, communicating with suppliers, confirming all aspects of pricing, confirming all deliveries and maintaining an inventory control database. This position is the integration point for purchasing, marketing, and sales teams. Advanced forecast modeling is the responsibility of this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop and maintain statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
  • Gather, analyze and validate sales data from retailers, customize online reports and download data from NetSuite, review resulting statistical forecast model, apply error analysis techniques to improve forecasting, summarize/aggregate statistical forecasts, reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
  • Work with Sales, Marketing and Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
  • Present, solicit, and assess feedback on the various forecasts from sales, and finance.
  • Recommend adjustments for operational forecasts.
  • Review promotional plans with sales.
  • Maintain demand planning system and software.
  • Monitor trends in forecast error.
  • Identify relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence.
  • Revise and add to existing model based on business needs.
  • Provide recommendations in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
  • Lead dialogues with customers and internal teams to ensure that sales orders have been placed and sufficient inventory is available to support sales goals and marketing events.
  • Manage inventory purchases, prepare weekly purchase orders based on business demand and lead time.
  • Work closely with Finance to ensure billing accuracy, deposits are made and orders are accounted for in cash flow analysis.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that product arrives on time and follow-up on undelivered product.
  • Communicate with suppliers and transportation service providers.
  • Respond to general inquiries and inform sales people of delays and/or problems.
  • Compile inventory reports, recording the quantity, type and value of products on hand, using manual or computerized inventory systems.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • BA/BS college degree or work experience equivalent
  • Experience in manufacturing organization is preferred
  • Experience analyzing and maintaining large quantities of data
  • Knowledge of Oracle/NetSuite Demand Planning is a huge asset
  • Excellent computer skills with advanced experience in MS Excel, creating and working with complex worksheets to build and maintain models
  • Excellent analytical and logical reasoning skills, plus excellent planning and organization skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills are also essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the forecast process
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, and multi-task to meet tight timelines
