R&D Technician

Our client a leading food company is looking for R&D Technicians to join the organization in Etobicoke location.

Reporting to the Research and Development Manager, the R&D Technician functions as an integral member of Product Development Team, a team focused on delivering high quality sauces, mayonnaise, dressings and innovations.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:                                                               

·         Coordinate with R&D and Sales to send out products in development to customers

·         Manage paperwork around products in development, product trials, customer specifications and requests

·         Assist the R&D technologists in product development, product analysis, ingredient gathering, cooking, sampling, sample submission, sensory evaluation and product trials

·         Assist the R&D technologists in developing high quality products

·         Coordinate and monitor shelf life studies

·         Assist the R&D technologists in the transfer of development formulations into production and quality control departments

·         Order and /or replenish supplies, as needed

·         Organize and maintain lab for optimal development

·         Assist the R&D technologists to maintain document control for formulations, specification sheets, nutritionals, raw material specifications, allergens and kosher certification

Qualifications/Experience:

·         Post-Secondary education in Food Science or a related field (BSc program or equivalent an asset)

·         At least 1- 2 years experience in a Food Manufacturing or related Food Industry environment

·         Knowledge of Canadian food legislative requirements

·         Knowledge of Nutritional Facts and ingredient labelling

·         Strong oral and written communication skills
