POSITION SUMMARY:

First line supervisor who provides instruction, guidance and leadership to employees by assisting in solving day to day problems, utilizing the Company`s Employee Charter while implementing the policies and procedures of the company.

The Maintenance and Facility Supervisor is responsible for the overseeing and directing of Maintenance workers and coordinating of activities related to maintenance operations ensuring that all timing schedules and regulations of the trades are adhered to. The Maintenance and Facility Supervisor supports the Maintenance and Facilities Manager by acting as liaisons in matters regarding policy application, employee relations and continuous improvement.

Under the general direction of the Maintenance and Facilities Manager, the Maintenance and Facility Supervisor confers regularly with other department’s supervisors on matters related to maintenance operations. The incumbent requires excellent organization and communication skills, both written and verbal.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • C of Q - Industrial Electrician or Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) - Dual ticket is a plus or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 8 years maintenance work experience in an automotive manufacturing environment with weld assembly processes.
  • Good knowledge and experience in automation process with excellent understanding about PLC family (Allen Bradley)(compact Logix, Control Logix Processors), Robotics (Fanuc), Weld Controls (Bosch) and communication protocols (devicenet and Ethernet)
  • Good knowledge and understanding about safety devices, and safety circuits
  • Good knowledge, understanding and experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Ability to read and write schematics.
  • Good knowledge and understanding about building utilities – HVAC units, Air compressors, Water Tower, etc.
  • Excellent presentation, motivation and team building skills.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Human resource skills and maturity in judgement required.
  • Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer

requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act on behalf of Maintenance and Facility Manager in his absence.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications with all the other departments.
  • Conduct all business activity in a professional manner consistent with the positive leadership practices of building trust, empowerment, and personal responsibility.
  • Utilize interactive management principles when implementing progressive discipline procedures in dealing with unsatisfactory employees. Encourage professional development to enhance team performance. Cross train team members to maximize flexibility and coverage to accommodate vacations and absences.
  • Organize and deal with outside contractors and follow up to ensure that job is complete and according to agreed plan.
  • Provides instruction, guidance and leadership to employees by assisting in solving day to day problems.
  • Ensure that scheduled Preventive and Predictive maintenance on every equipment is carried out diligently.
  • Ensure that your team is updating “Issues List” in every production equipment.
  • Ensure that you are aware of the critical spare parts for every equipment as well as the parts suppliers
  • Ensure that suppliers or vendors and contractors list with necessary information is available.
  • Ensure that pre-shift meetings and departmental meetings are performed as required.
  • Ensure that the building’s utilities are properly maintained. Sub-station and electrical panels, HVAC units, air compressors, external and internal lightings, Exit and emergency lights, water tower, washrooms, doors and dock levelers, etc. should be part of Preventive Maintenance System.
  • Provide appropriate safety training to personnel that operate or maintain equipment.
  • Promote and practice our “Safety First” policy by addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe situation
  • Contain, report and have safety hazards fixed by the qualified people immediately.
  • Provide guidance on how your team performs assigned tasks in a safe manner.
  • Provide guidance on how to troubleshoot problems on equipment effectively.
  • Ensure that lockout / Tag out policy is enforced in all sources of energy.
  • Instruct and monitor your team to ensure they are following the safety rules, standard and procedure at all times.
  • Ensure that every team member uses Personal Protective Equipment in every area it is required.
  • Ensure that work areas are keep clean, promote and practice good housekeeping along with all fellow team members.
  • Ensure Quality Workmanship through continuous improvement and training.
  • Help to exceed Customer Quality Expectations with a focus on zero defects.
  • Ensure the Standard Operating Procedures are followed.
  • Participate in making and communicating improvements to existing procedures.
  • Ensure quality checks are performed with the correct equipment at the required frequency.
  • Communicate Problem Reports to other team members.
  • Report Quality issues or concerns immediately – assist in containment and corrective actions.
  • Promote fair and honest effort through teamwork.
  • Guide and encourage your team in improving uptime/productivity/throughput.
