POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervises and coordinates
activities of staff engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and
outgoing shipments and in the preparation of shipment material. Expedites
shipments and establishes delivery dates and times for shipments. Customer service
duties performed daily to maintain proper liaisons between the company and
customers.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Grade 12 Education
- Minimum 5 years experience working in an automotive environment
- Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must have good organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem
solving skills.
- Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external
customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)
- Must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
- Microsoft Office Product
- Must be able to work in a strictly confidential manner.
- Customer related web site training i.e. Ford CMM53/DCX Smart/GM Power

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- System for all communications to and from customer regarding shipping
- System to ensure adequate empty containers for shipping finished goods,
includes storage, cleanliness and organization of area.
- System for invoicing for shipments that require packing slips or custom
docs.
- System for tracking & documenting shipments
- System for preparing shipping labels
- Responsible for shipping area
- Be familiar with and follow all regulatory compliance with company,
Local, State and Federal Legislations including
- Systems / procedures for shipping parts to outside suppliers for processing
- Manage premium shipping for Shipping Dept only.
- System to track delivery ratings for reporting to leadership team
- Accountable for addressing violations that are related to Shipping dept
only
- Scheduling Customer shipments daily
- Maintain up to date training as necessary
- Ensure a safe and clean work place
- Manpower requirement planning, scheduling and training
- Succession Plan in place
- Develop your team and keep team informed
- Develop procedures to comply with Government, Legal, Company’s and TS
requirements
- Ensure all policies/procedures are consistently applied
- Involve those departments who may be impacted by a change to a system or
process your department owns
- Standardized work
- Plans in place for top priorities that will contribute to company’s
success
- Meet your commitments; when you cannot, discuss alternative solutions
with departments/people affected before deadline date
- Continually improve the systems and processes your department is
accountable for (to improve beyond current standard)
- Correct/prevent issues that will impact a system or process (to bring it
up to a specific standard)
- Have methods in place to PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Adjust)
- Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects the
company’s expectations, company’s
vision/values through company’s Employee Charter.
- Have the right to refuse work based on safety or health concerns.
- As a competent supervisor as outlined in the Ontario OHSA, Section 27
(1) & (2), you shall ensure that a worker:
- Works in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and
procedures required by the Act and the regulations;
- Uses or wears the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the
worker’s employer requires to be used or worn;
- Advise a worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to
the health or safety of the worker of which the supervisor is aware;
- Where so prescribed, provide a worker with written instructions as to
the measures and procedures to be taken for protection of the worker;
- Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection
of a worker.
- Follows and enforces the guidelines and rules as defined in the Employee
Handbook and Company policies
- In addition to the above, a competent supervisor is also required to;
- Perform regular workplace inspections
- Conduct safety talks and cell meetings
- Actively participate in accident/incident investigations
- Train new employees
- Identify and correct unsafe acts or conditions
- Identify, correct or commend health and safety performance
- Conduct performance appraisals for workers’ safety performance
