Our client, manufacturer of cosmetics, pharmaceutical, & cleaning products in North America, is looking for a law clerk to join their legal team at the corporate office in Concord. The law clerk will be assiting the business mainly with advertising/marketing matters as a first level of interface with the marketing teams. This role requires a substantial amount of autonomy, performing legal work related to advertising and marketing issues.

Salary Range: $65K-$75K
Location: Concord, ON
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support on a wide range of advertising and marketing law matters
- Review and guidance on a variety of marketing matters such as consumer facing materials in respect to compliance with legislation, industry standards and internal policies
- Working with relevant stakeholders as needed
- Draft and review simple or standard form legal disclaimers, contest rules, sponsorship arrangements, etc.
- Provide guidance directly to clients on aspects of compliance and execution
- Assist with development of training materials, resources and presentations for our business’ marketing teams on relevant topics, and assist with the maintenance of the legal advertising review process
- Manage the maintenance and assist with prosecution of the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including coordination with the business and external counsel
- Facilitate powers of attorney and handling of documents for foreign prosecution needs
- Assist with the company’s Corporate Secretary matters, including preparing resolutions, minute book maintenance, and coordination with directors, officers and global counsel
- Provide assistance and support to colleagues on the legal team with respect to various advertising, marketing and corporate secretary matters
- Work with the legal team and our business’ marketing teams on special projects and major marketing initiatives as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- Self-starter, possesses the ability to plan, organize and prioritize job tasks in order to meet tight deadlines and willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Attention to detail and the ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong organizational and time management skills, verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and professional presentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, Visio, IP portfolio management and corporate secretarial database software
Education/Experience:
- Law Clerk Diploma or Paralegal Certification
- 5-10 years of experience in advertising and marketing law, at a law firm or in-house legal department
- Experience with preparation and/or maintenance of corporate records is beneficial
- Experience preparing and editing legal documents and correspondence
