Maintenance Manager

Our client is a Global Manufacturer of automotive products, currently we are looking for a Maintenance Manager to join the Brampton location.

The position reports to Operations Director, Leads and directs the maintenance process, performing all the general functions of a Maintenance Manager as listed below:

 

1.               Directs the activities of the maintenance team, including manpower assignments scheduling, issuing disciplinary action if required, conducting annual performance appraisal, and other employee relations matters.

2.               Ensures that the building, building infrastructure, building services, production and production support equipment are in good/safe working condition.

3.               Ensures that an effective preventive & predictive maintenance system is in place and well understood by the members of the maintenance team. Experience with CMMS preferred.

4.               Works closely with production and tool room departments to minimize machine downtime by identifying root cause, ensuring timeliness of repair operation, coordinating necessary support departments, and following up on corrective actions to avoid future breakdowns.  Inspects operating equipment and environment of the working area and maintain standards.

5.               Promotes a positive employee relations climate by maintaining open communications with maintenance team and practicing effective conflict resolution.

6.               Ensures productivity targets are achieved by monitoring actual performance against target and initiates corrective action to correct any negative variances.  Provides productivity data for departmental performance reports.

7.               Promotes continuous improvement activities including reviewing all suggestions made by team members.  Coordinates resources for implementation.  Make recommendations for productivity and safety improvements to Operations Director.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

 

1.               Minimum 10 years progressive experience in a maintenance position within a heavy stamping automotive industry with exposure to multiple press technologies, mechanical, hydraulic etc. Facilities maintenance experience is considered an asset.

2.               Minimum 3 years experience in a maintenance supervisor or manager role.

3.               Completed apprenticeship as industrial electrician or millwright.

4.               Familiar with applicable codes relating to maintenance such as Ontario hydro code, CSA, OHSA, spill response.

5.               Exposure and experience with Continuous Improvement, TPM, Lean, 5S Strategies

6.               Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

7.               Ability to work overtime as required
